tasty, simple chinese food.
I dined at hot wok today for lunch and ordered the kung pao chicken. The sauce was tasty but not didn't weigh down the dish, (as is the case with many chinese restaurants) and it tasted amazingly fresh. The lunch had all the standard chinese fixins; rice, a salad, soup and won-tons. The total with tip + tax was 7 even so it's also a pretty fair bargain. The portion size was also very generous.

Who'd ever guess....
...that a seemingly unpretentious little Chinese restaurant in the midst of a shopping area could be so good?
In a city full of mediocre Chinese restaurants dishing out greasy dishes, heavy on the cornstarch, Hot Wok is an oasis. Honestly, I haven't had anything there I didn't like. (Okay, maybe the asparagus and mushrooms went a bit too heavy on black mushrooms for my taste) Particularly noteworthy are the orange chicken and sizzling beef, though I certainly wouldn't turn away from the potstickers or fried shrimp. Service is timely and attentive, food comes to the table hot, and the overhead butterflies add a light, breezy feel to the place. Prices are reasonable; plenty of parking.
These folks actually seem to care about the quality of their food rather than rushing you in and out. The best Chinese food I've had locally in a long time.
