Order the food to go.. Definitely not the place you want to dine in. This is a fast food joint with great food but poor customer service. My family goes every Sunday and orders carnitas and flour tortillas to go. The carnitas are cooked in lard, have just the right amount of salt, and I think they add an orange and maybe brown sugar when cooking cause there's just a little sweetness and stickyness to them... Not overwhelming though, just perfect. The tortillas are hand-made. My kids love the flour tortillas, but I love the corn. I haven't eaten the menudo (don't like it), but my husband has and he says their menudo is so-so. I really like their costillas con chili rojo (ribs with red chili sauce). They are perfectly cooked and the sauce has just enough heat to it. The flavors are awesome. I didn't care much for their tamales, but they're not bad... just not what I was expecting. This place serves good authentic mexican food, but if you're going to compare this to your mom's cooking, you might be disappointed. As far as the customer service goes, you will rarely get eye contact or a smile from the people taking your order. The only one who is somewhat friendly is the girl with the short haircut and piercings. Hopefully once it is your turn after a lengthy wait in line, you'll have this girl wait on you. If not, don't take it personally... they provide the same service or lack of friendliness to everyone.

small town jem. love this place during the holidays!! when I can not make my own tamales I put in a special order ahead for Christmas Eve for theirs! And Saturday mornings are great to get there early for their fresh hot tortillas!!

Saw some other reviews about not really good place for sit down eating. If you are looking for great sit down style that is clean, friendly and original, try Las Casitas Del Mar in San Fernando on San Fernando Mission Blvd. You won't be disappointed! And live Mariachi on Friday nights, that are beautiful and soulful! Fabulous owner and staff, food!!

Best green chile burritos around. I would recommend that if you are passing through the lovely city of San Fernando nthat you visit this small but wonderful place. It may not be the best for sitting there and eating, but the taste of the food will more then make up for the lack of accomadations. So when you stop by, make sure you order your burrito wet.

Best chicken toco in town. Well, I see how people beef the place about service and the attitude of people that work there, but that's not why you go here. You go there for just about the most authentic Mexican food you can find in a fast food setting. The toco shells are hand made and cooked to a slight crunch which makes the toco's unreal. The chicken is all white meat and very tender, the beef is better than average, but I would stay with the chicken for sure. All the meals are very filling, the buritto's are big and as good as any place out there. If you can finish 3 toco's your a big eater. The beans & rice are really good for everything is cooked in lard, as it should be, better flavor but watch the colesterol. The chopped salsa is just the best and their red & and green sauce are spicy and extremely good, as are the chips. I've been eating at the Reseda location for over 20 years and it's never changed, always consistant and good. But yes, the people working there just don't care if they make you happy, unless you speak spanish or from Mexico. So if you have a spanish speaking friend, take them and let them order and see the difference. But it's not as if they don't give everyone attitude, even their own countrymen cause they do. But if you slaved in a hot kitchen serving people all day long you might be the same way too. But I'm here to tell ya, if you want a sure shot great Mex. meal go there and order 2 chicken toco's with beans & rice or 3 ala cart on their own and just get ready for a down right kick butt toco. No brainer. But remember, it aint Toco Bell, you'll wait 10 - 15 min but well worth it.

I'm not so impressed. So after reading the reviews here I set off for Carillo's and was looking forward to an amazing lunch. I ordered the George Lopez Special, and it was seriously huge. It was a good deal for your buck and it was ok, but there was nothing particularly special about it. The tortilla was alright, but other than that I might has well have ordered an extra large Taco Bell Burrito. I got the Carne Asada and various other reviews I've seen have recomended the Carnitas, so Im still willing to go back and give it another try. It certainly wasn't bad, but I just wasn't blown away by anything.

Editorial Review. Family run since 1975, this Mexican cafe is popular for its handmade tortillas and traditional Sunday menudo meal; fresh tamales shipped nationwide.

Exellent Tamales & Tortillas. WOW!!! The food was fantastic. The fresh/homemade taste of the tortillas and tamales is outstanding. The Burritos are big but trust me, you'll will finish it. The people are friendly. It is a little whole in the wall but you have to admit, "sometimes they're better than big stuffy restaurants. This place is fast, great tasing and reasonable prices.
