What People Are Saying About Angeles Shooting Range

In Short – Known as the shooting range that closes only on Christmas Day, this spacious site features both an indoor and outdoor area for trigger-happy customers. Rifle-bearing shooters can take aim in covered stations with some 700 yards (for steel targets) while pistol-whippers can shoot out to 100 yards. One of the most appealing features of the range is the large outdoor space as well as the open spectator area.
avoid weekends if you don't like crowds and the increased danger that comes with it

I've gone here on and off over the last ten years. I grew up in the country in another state, target shooting responsibly in the wilds, so I still find it unpleasant to have to plink and target shoot at a range. But this is the only one I've found here that is comparably pleasant, albiet not a substitute for plinking in the wilds, or enjoying hand-thrown clays in the high desert at your campsite.
It is very big, and the outdoor aspect is very nice. I can't stand indoor ranges and don't go to them anymore since finding this place.
And I do not go here on the weekends -- far too many people, some of whom, well, aren't exactly the good ol' boys I grew up with. Let's just say there are some real interesting gun afficionados here in Los Angeles, and they seem to materialize on weekends at this range. Plus, I don't like how the safety factor narrows, theoretically, when there are so many shooters in one place.
But the majority are folks who put off a good vibe, and do their thing whether it be black powder, professional target shooters, hunters dialing in their rifles, simpletons like me doing what I've done since I was 10, (often wondering why the guy next to me with the high-dollar pistol and new, fancy gear can't stay on the paper!) and of course the local law enforcement sometimes show up in mass to practice (I think it used to be a certain weekday morning -- DEB guys with all their "swat" gear).
Safety at this range is top notch -- the line officers don't mess around, and I like that. But keep an eye out for extra measure. Every once in a while you see somebody who obviously isn't well trained with a firearm.
Enjoy the great California weather, and pack a cooler with a lunch. Bring eye protection and exceptional hearing protection -- double up with headset and good earplugs. Every so often you end up next to the guy with the bolt action fifty caliber! Ka-BOOOM! and suddenly the earplugs ain't cuttin it anymore!
Enjoy!
- Pros: outdoors, California weather, long range shooting
- Cons: too crowded on weekends
Angeles Shooting Ranges

There are a few choices for shooting ranges in Los Angeles. Some are great indoor ranges with limited ranges of 50-75'. Some allow rifles in those indoor ranges. Angeles Shooting ranges offers outdoor, covered shooting stations for rifles out to 600 plus yards. Pistols out to 100 yards. Swinging steel targets with established ranges to make it easy for the shooter to get their bearings. Range masters may be a little rough at times with only one thing in mind, to keep the shooters and all others safe during their time at the range. They have been trained very well. They also have sporting clay areas, and international silhouette where pistol shooters can test their skills out to 200 meters with a handgun. Yes, you would be amazed at what you can do with practice. They also have a fantastic reloading store! The place is kept clean and on the weekends they have a gentlemen who cooks dogs and burgers for reasonable prices. It is a perfect place for the novice or the expert. You can see black powder guns in action, double rifles being sighted in for Africa, various styles of new and old guns, and the always fun .22 plinkers. Bring out your shotgun and try the sporting clays at Moore and Moore. Need lessons?? They will be more than happy to help you out. I would like to see Angeles offer special shooting events or ??? to promote shooting sports. It would be nice to see some of the large gun firms advertise / get more involved with a place like this. Also would like to see more of a varied selection from their main store. Great big parking lots and a wonderful country feeling to be here even if only for a few hours. As a shooter, you won't be disappointed. Take a kid or adult out for the first time and let them learn the proper way to shoot. A great way to build relationships. Enjoy the Angeles Shooting Ranges as I have for over 25 years. Shoot often.....Shoot safely......
Well run range

A little hard to get to, but well worth the drive. The staff is professional and focused on safety. A great place to sight in with iron targets at various distances and paper targets availible in the store.
- Pros: professional, safety, multiple ranges
