Heavenly Hole in the Wall. Healthy? I don't think so. But everything is really cheap, filling, and delicious. I really love their soups: cocido with chunks of beef, menudo, or chicken with cilantro and avocado. The chimis and burritos are macho sized. Try the birria or the avodaba, and obviously, the carne asada. On weekend mornings, they grill up huge batches of carne asada and it is tempting to try steak and eggs then, but you would miss out on really good huevos rancheros. They don't skimp on portions. Help yourself to green or red salsa and pickled or roasted or fresh jalapenos, and then some citrus wedges at the bar. Always a bit of a line for takeout. Few seats. Parking is limited in the strip mall. For about $12, the two of us were pleasantly stuffed.
finally, healthier mexican food!. my family and i have been going there for the past 6 months. of course they have typical mexican drinks (horchata! yummy!) and great burritos. they are huge! we used to drive all the way to pacoima for good mexican food, but this one is 100 times better and less greasy. no lard! everything (except quesedillas...which are really good) comes with greens in them so if you don't want any don't forget to order your burrito without them. avocados make the burritos taste extra good. my dad likes the fries...they are pretty good for a mexican place. mmm...i'm getting hungry just thinking about it! too bad its closed right now. i'm so hungry!!
