L'Affair to forget
by llyonize
There's not many dining options that I am aware of in the Mission Hills area. We thought we check out L'Affair. Very old school valley. The table we sat at smelled of mildew. ewwww. I ordered off the regular menu, a shrimp dish, that had so much sauce it was out of hand. My vegetables tasted yucky. The only thing that was any good was my glass of wine, and thats because I am not picky with that. My boyfriend ordered of the specials menu, some blacked sea bass, after two bites, he was ready to go...so we did.
- Pros: nice staff, good size parking lot
Unique, Delicious and Romantic Gem

Don't judge this book by its cover! I drove by it for 2 1/2 years as the outside does not advertise how spectacular this restaurant is. A hidden gem indeed, L'affair Cafe completely bowled me over. I went over on a whim for a late-ish dessert and drink with a friend. We were so impressed, we ended up getting a sampling of dishes from the menu and were pleasantly surprised by every single one. Wonderful escargot, french onion soup, and one of the best creme brulees I've had. A real-live, gourmet restaurant, that is NOT of the regular, national, cookie-cutter variety. Adorable, and romantic, french country interior. A special treat - Absolutely love!
- Pros: great food, a nice break from the average
- Cons: a little expensive, but worth it
Best restaurant in the north SF valley!

I've been coming to this place for over 10 years. The dishes here are well prepared. I love the duck with cranberry sauce very much. The chicken plates are also very good. Desserts are equally impressive the the Kiwi fruit tart being at the top of the list for me. Their French onion soup is out of this world. Be sure to try their Escargot too.:-) The only downside of the place is that the wine list is a bit too small.
Otherwise L'Affair is a great experience for everyone.
- Pros: Appetizers, Good entrees, good desserts
- Cons: Limited wine list, Expensive
