service
100.0% positive
  1. It's no the closest one to my house but I figured that if other people were happy with the experience I would be too.
  2. Small shop big service
  3. (I'm the daughter of a man who owned and operated an office machine repair company for over 40 years so I felt this was a reasonable price for the service and would have offered the owner a token if he'd not been able to fix it.
  4. The owner can be brutally honest in his opinion of my older machines, but as was said by a previous reviewer, "if you can get past that," I have found the service outstanding, timely, reasonably priced and my machines work well when I get them home.
  5. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and their prices are very reasonable.

Best sewing machine repair and FAST

by lyndaV at Citysearch

What a find!!! I was in desperate need when my serger stopped working and I had 2 bridal parties (8 dresses that I still needed to be hemmed) and going out the next day. I had to find someone who could fix it and return it to me the same day and not charge me a arm and a leg. Art was great and assured me that within 5 minutes he could tell me what the problem was and how fast I could have it back. It was dropped off late morning and I had it back at 5pm. That included driving 30 minutes each way to get to him, but it was so worth it and I would drive a hour each way to have him work on my machines now.

He is a very nice man and took time to show me other features I forgot about, on how to use the machine for the things I alter. He also mentioned that since I use the machine for my business and it is 24 years old, when I have more time he would show me the newer models that have major time saving features on the sergers that presently take a lot of time doing on my older model.

I will be returning soon to take him up on looking at the newer models because I sew everyday for over 12 hours on my machines and every bit of time I can save and make it easier on myself will only make my life easier.

I was expecting to pay at least 50% more and was very happy with the cost and the fast repair.

Personal and Timely Service -- Highly Recommended

by PHollen at Citysearch

I collect and use old metal sewing machines and also have newer models. I know enough about their maintenance past 'general' information. When we moved to Santa Clarita I visited every sewing machine repair place I could find in the phone book. I took in a machine that needed maintenance and asked about their service, costs, repair information, about parts availability and more. The gentlemen at the Santa Clarita Sewing Machine store were the Only ones who did not lie to me about what was wrong with my machine -- I knew what was wrong with it before I took it in. I will politely say that was not the case at the other establishments!

I have since taken all different brands of sewing machines (Bernina, Elna, Kenmore, Viking, White and Singer) including two sergers in to be maintained or repaired and can only say good things about their service. I have bought previously owned sewing machines, a new serger and a new vacuum from them and am extremely happy with those purchases. Their upgrade policy is wonderful. The owner can be brutally honest in his opinion of my older machines, but as was said by a previous reviewer, "if you can get past that," I have found the service outstanding, timely, reasonably priced and my machines work well when I get them home. They have been able to get the odd part or foot that I needed, they have accessories there, and have sewing classes, too. I highly recommend them.

  • Pros: Very Knowledgeable, timely service, accessories available, has classes
  • Cons: not open Sunday

They Fixed My Machine Quickly and at a Reasonable Price

by svantico at Citysearch

My sewing machine quit in the middle of a project 2 weeks ago. I read reviews on Insider Pages for sewing machine repair places in my area and picked this one because it had good revieews. It's no the closest one to my house but I figured that if other people were happy with the experience I would be too.

Walking into the place was a bit of a blast to the past. There were sewing machines and vacuum cleaners all around. Near the back of the shop was a space for sewing lessons. I chuckled to myself because the carpet was strewn with scraps of fabric and I thought "You're a sew-and-vac. Why don't you use the vacuum to pick up the thread?"!

The owener was brutally honest. He said my machine probably wasn't worth fixing and said it was a "mender's" machine and not intended as a "sewing machine". I'd be sewing on it like crazy for the past 7 years so I just took it in stride and listened. He didn't say those comments as a slam; it was more of just saying what he was thinking as a repair professional. I think other customers might be turned off by that.

He wasn't sure at a glance what the problem was but the deal he made was that he'd fix it for $68.50. If he found he couldn't fix it after taking the machine apart, there would be no charge. (I'm the daughter of a man who owned and operated an office machine repair company for over 40 years so I felt this was a reasonable price for the service and would have offered the owner a token if he'd not been able to fix it. I felt his time to diagnose was worth something.) He offered to have it done the following day but I declined and told him I didn't need it until the following week.

On the appointed day, the owner called and said he'd fixed it and the machine was ready to be picked up. I am very happy with the transaction and will use this service again when needed. Would I buy a new machine there? Probably not. But that's because I'm fine buying one at Costco...again.

  • Pros: Quick Fix, Good Outcome
  • Cons: Brutally Honest
