Editorial Review for Six Flags Magic Mountain – by Kim Cooper
The Appeal
Highly intense rides that can't be found at any other SoCal theme park make Magic Mountain a must-do for local adrenaline junkies. Opening several cutting-edge thrill rides over the last few years, the sprawling hillside amusement park has been dubbed the "Xtreme Park."
Facts and Features
The X is a boundary-pushing coaster with 360-degree rotating seats. The high-flying boomerang ride Deja Vu, sends riders flying forward and backward on a looping track. Goliath Jr. is a much gentler, scaled-down version of the original Goliath, which has a dizzying 255-foot drop that sends you through a smoke-filled tunnel at 85 mph. Old-fashioned carny rides and game booths featuring Warner Bros. characters offer salvation for those too young to hit the dreaded height line. Take the tykes for a whirl on Yosemite Sam's plane ride, or let them have at it in the Looney Tunes Lodge ball zone.

Insider Tips
When to GoLocals know that Super Bowl Sunday is the best day for an outing. Hardly any people show, so you practically have the park to yourself. Expect long lines and sweltering weather during summer.

Magic Mountain used to be a great park even though I'm not a roller-coaster fan. The coasters are great and people love 'em, but lots of folks no longer choose to go to Magic Mountain because it's no longer a clean family park. I live in the SCV and wouldn't dare being near the park after-dark. It's a great place for thugs and teens whose parents don't give a hoot about what their kids are doing or where they're going. Rides are great and the transformation for Halloween is really cool, but I no longer feel safe and doubt I'll be going back until Six Flags works on restoring the park for the folks that have disposable income to spend: adults with families. No parent wants to take their kid to a place taken over by gangsters.
Pros: Thrill Rides Galore
Cons: No Longer Safe

I worked at MM for eight years growing up. It was still to this day the best job I have ever had. On a recent trip back to the park with my kids I was shocked. The park is dirty, run down, and needs up dated. With so much money going into these rides every year why not skip a year and clean the place up. Make it a place where famalies want to go to. You already have the best rides around and the people will come back. Dirty park or not, but try focussing on the real issue. The people in your own community dont even want to visit anymore. How SAD is that. Clean it, Paint it, Up date it, and then get enouhg security in the park to make it safe for people to enjoy it. And get rid of the water park. That is a waste.
Pros: The Rides
Cons: The place is filthy
