5 stars!

I recently moved to the valley and was really nervous to find a new hair stylist. I searched online and came across Carlton Hair. I was impressed by the site so i called and made an apt. for a cut and color. The receptionist told me the prices and to my luck they had a promotion going on for $80! I saw Christine, what a sweetheart. My hair has a little curl to it so i was more concerned about the cut. She listened and the cut and color came out perfect! Great experience. Everyone there is so nice, even the receptionist knew i was hungry and offered to get me food from the mall. I left a happy customer! Can't wait to go back for my highlights now!!!
- Pros: good stylist, great customer service
WOW, really great stylist!

I have had my hair cut & colored for years by Jenny. She is amazing! I have long, blonde hair & for anyone who has long hair GO TO JENNY. Here's why: when you say trim, she actually trims! When you tell her an inch or two, she really listens & if your hair needs more, she'll tell you, but ultimately, the decision is yours! how refreshing! My hair is very resistant to bleach, unfortunately, but Jenny tried various ways to get it just how I like it! & never gave up until I was happy. I've seen other things she's done & she's very creative & makes beautiful cuts &colors. Ok, the end.
- Pros: understanding stylists, great atmosphere
- Cons: can't think of any
They DON'T understand curly hair
by Akbal at Citysearch
They say they understand curly hair, but I don't think they do. I recently went to give my curly hair a fresh cut, but they ruined it. I had it just below shoulder length, and I asked her to cut it a bit so as to make it more airy and a bit shorter with some layering, and more stylish. Before she did anything, I asked her how she would cut my hair - wet or dry. She stated that for being the first time (whatever that meant) she would cut it wet, but that she would take in consideration that curly hair shrinks. I was skeptical, but I wanted to trust her. After she cut the first half of hair she showed me. OMG. I almost wanted to cry and run out the door. She gave me a bob-type of cut, with the shortest hair just under my skull!! How aweful!! She did not listen. I'll NEVER, EVER get my hair cut wet again. And I'll never go back to them either. Next time I'll listen to my gut instinct. My search for another stylist who DOES understand curly hair will continue. :(
- Pros: fair price, parking
- Cons: cut curly hair wet
Worst stylist ever

Carlton in Valencia has really terrible service. I got my hair done by Sandy and had to go back so she could fix the color. When I came back she rolled her eyes and was not professional at all. She had the assistant do most of the work and even then, the assistant apologized. I will never go there again! If you are going to do color do it right don't give lame excuses about why the color didn't come out! Don't go to Sandy unless you want a terrible color and cut!
- Pros: Parking
- Cons: Service,
The most skilled and delightfully staffed salon in L.A.

I have the thickest and most stubborn head of hair I have ever known. That meant little during the DIY punk hair days of my adolescence when aquanet was always on 5-finger discount. When it came time to act my age and style accordingly, however, neither I nor any of my hair designer friends (almost 1-in-3, living in L.A., you know?) knew how to tame this wild anarchist mane. Except for Amanda!
Amanda met the challenge bravely and deftly. After about the 2nd or 3rd encounter she found out how to balance my hair's chaotic nature with her own aesthetically infused order and invented a uniqe look all my own, with lines and angles you just don't see anywhere else. She not only got it under control but gave it new life and expressive style such as I had never dreamed possible.
She also gives sage product advice and, although I've never colored my hair, I've seen what she does with color and it is just beautiful.
So, if you want the best cut on the West Coast get to Carlton Valencia and see Amanda, and please tell her Ramon says (in your best Jamaican accent) "It's too hot!"
- Pros: Awesome music, attentive, knowledgable and personable staff, soothing atmosphere.
- Cons: They aren't in Seattle!!!
