nice place, friendly crowd, not bother wimps, best singers, like place esp
Soulful karaoke enlivens this downtown house of blues..
In Short
Don't bother knocking on the front door of this anachronistic watering hole, because the entrance is around back, just through the caged smoking patio. Faded wood paneling and well-patinaed mirrors are straight-up dive bar, but the festive neighborhood vibe manages to light up the dimly lit interior. Creaky tables and chairs run parallel to a worn bar and a lounge area. A retro-funk flavored jukebox stands in back next to a tiny stage.
Nice place. I like this place esp. on karaoke nights. It was one of the first places I hit upon arriving in LA. The crowd is so friendly but man, the singers are the best I've heard anywhere, and I'm a karaoke veteran.
My spot,My neighborhood. This place is great. It's not a dive. It's a neighborhood bar. Everyone's a local(Mid Wil,Adams Dist.,Jefferson Park,USC). The drinks are strong and no bullshi&^*! Listen to some blues or ham it up with some old soul. John at the door has been there forever. Enter from the alley. Warning: Wimps don't bother. Everybody looks out for each other. 15 seats maximum. By the way use this as the pre-Laker bar or pre-Hollywood, 360ish/Congo spot. Booze here smooze there.
