I've been going to Genmai for about 2 years now, and I love it! I'm a big fan fo sushi and Japanese food in general, and this place ranks as one of my favorites. I go there at least once a week for lunch because it is such a great value. Try the Lunch Box Specials, and get a $17 meal at dinnertime for $7 at lunch, complete with miso soup, salad, white rice tempura, grilled salmon or chicken, and a california roll! The staff is great, and service is excellent. My only complaint, which is minor, is that the decor is very 80's...they should go with a more traditional Japanese design.

Genmai was highly recommended to me by a lifelong sushi lover! Though I am a relatively new connoisseur of sushi, Genmai's flavorful rolls have knocked my socks off. The delux Dragon Roll with eel, avacodo, and a warm sauce is a house specialty. Other rolls and traditional sushi have been outstanding and having the option of brown rice is refreshing. For me there is only one place for sushi in LA, Genmai.
Pros: Service, Food quality, atmosphere
Cons: canned music, not cheap
