A Diamond Hidden Amongst the Slums. After reading the previous reviews I was very apprehensive about my upcomming trip during the Thanksgiving Holiday to visit my children and my granddaughter with my husband. But low and behold, we found a wonderful and relaxing place to stay. Management went out of there way to make out stay one of the best I've ever had, even better than one at a 5-star hotel. The room we stayed in was luxiourious beyound our wildest imagination. And I never once found any critter whatsoever anywhere. I will never stay anywhere else whenever I visit my children and will always recommend the Hyland Motel of Van Nuys to all of my friends and relatives in need of place to stay.

Cucaracha Motel. rude management, linens stained, odor emitting from mattress, cucarachas crawling on ceiling and floor, some up to 2" long, inside all rooms, this place is deceiving, it draws you in with a pleasant exterior, only to submit you to the HORRORS within, I did not stay the rest of the night and they would not refund my money or give me a receipt, which I will take up with the appropriate agency, I in all my travels have never had quite the experience I had at the Hyland,I would not recommend this place at all.

Free high-speed insects. Extrememe pest infestation..some 2 inches long found in my bed. also crickett infestation/air conditioners always breaking down, holes in walls around them and doorframes that you could see the daylight thru/make you do 28 day check out and re-register which is illegal..called the 28 day shuffle. . . maintenance man extremely rude and enforcement of "rules" very discriminatory. Area full of prostitutes. Have cheked with LA Building & Saftey there are presently several complaints aout this business pending.
