Consistently Good Indian Food.
BIG Indian food lover here, yes I am. Now I will prefice this and tell you that if it was my wife writing this it would not be as enticing, she did not have the experience I did. The place itself is designed very tastefully, not like your average sparce Indian restaurant. Lighting was set to evening mood and was very calming. The funny thing is that the place is in a tiny strip mall and they have valet parking. Next door is a 7-11 so being a NY'rker I parked on the street. The whole valet thing here in L.A. is amusing to the point of revulsion. But I digress. We were immediately greeted and seated. The place was not full, but not empty either. Just the right amount of people. Our waiter was very nice and accomodating. So now the food. Ordered the veg. samosas, which were very nice. Not overpowering, with just the right amount of spice. Now don't get me wrong, I love spicy food, both spiced and hot, but this was a nice opener. We especially enjoyed the spicy (Hot) pickled carrots. Main course was the chicken tikka masala, and lamb korma. What I loved about the chicken was that it was creamy and had a smokey aroma from the fact that they first roast the chicken in the tandoori oven and then cook it in the sauce. One observation about the texture of the chicken, it was a little harder than I would have liked. My wife felt so even more than I, but the flavor was very much to my liking. The lamb was soft and spicy (Hot) which I loved. The spinach sauce that it was cooked in was just spot on. Oh yeah, also had garlic naan. I love this stuff, can't get enough of it. Overall I had a really nice time and the food was just the way I like it. Will have to go there alone next time since the Mrs. likes clay oven better over this place. Which reminds me...if you are even in NYC you have to try the Rose of India. If I didn't write about it in the past I will try to do so soon.

BEST INDIAN FOOD IN LA!. This is hands down the best indian food in LA. Great prices. Great ambiance. Great delivery service too :) YUM
Best food EVAR!!!. i love coming here. it always brings a smile to my face! i always have a great time when im here. the service is great and the food is AMAZING!!!!
Great food, but their customer service can be a little better.
I love this place. They have such great food, but their customer service NEEDS to be improved. I love to go for the food, but I'm sometimes not in the mood to deal with the staff. They are very pushy, rude, and very anxious to get you out of there (not as though they are so busy.) They just want to get you out of there for some reason. I have even taken food to go, PURPOSELY, so I don?t deal with their staff, and it just wasn't the same as dining in there.
So you gotta weigh out your options. Great food VS. Horrible customer service.
great service and food.
When we arrived we used the valet service (no problems). We were seated promptly and ordered lamb samosas, chicken tikka masala, matar paneer, garlic naan and rice.
Service: A++++
The service was excellent, the waiter checked on us periodically and the food came out of the kitchen at lightening speed.
Lamb Samosas: C+
The samosas tasted all right, but were a bit dry and fell apart entirely when I attempted to break it apart with my fork. Ground meat inside was flavorful, but lacked interest.
Chicken Tikka Masala: A-
The best dish we ordered here. The sauce was creamy and just the perfect level of spicy heat. Great over our garlic naan or rice.
Matar Paneer: C
The matar paneer was a bit too watery and lacked any stand-out flavor. It was passable, but I would order something else when I eat here again.
Garlic Naan: A-
Great flavor and texture, a little burnt on the edges.
Rice: B
No problems with the rice, just plain ol' rice. Some of the Indian restaurants I frequent add rice or herbs to the rice to make it more interesting.
Overall: I'd recommend the place for decent Indian food.
Obnoxious customer service.
We went to this restaurant on New years eve and had absolutely the most horrendous experience. If you're too busy to cater to customers sitting in your restaurant, you need to hire more staff or get the staff you have to move their butts (there were certainly enough staff on hand, they just seemed to be heavily sedated or stoned and had trouble acknowledging our existence). We had to wave frantically and shout at times to attract the staff's attention. To begin with, we were well ready with our order, but had to wait about 15 minutes to attract the "customer service" guy to send a waiter our way to take our order! Bizzare. This worthy's only job seemed to be bugging customers and engaging them in inane and inordinately lengthy conversations. We were already fuming. Then, a dopey waiter turns up to take our order, and forgets to get the hot water I ordered (I had a bad throat). I had to again go through frantic-wave to get my hot water. Food arrived, was delicious, compliments to the chef, no complaints in that department. We decided to have dessert. So we again went through frantic-wave. No response. Nary an acknowledgement of our presence. 15,20,30 minutes passed. Absolutely mind boggled, I practically shouted the "customer service" guy to our table, and gave him a piece of my mind. Told him that we had changed our mind about dessert, and would he please send the check asap. To which the guy had the cheek to remark that "I am not a waiter. i will send you a waiter. Lucky, please attend to these guys. they are complaining" Wtf!! By now we had lost it, and I went over to the big turbaned owner, and made a formal complaint. The guy came over, and apologised, more in the spirit of "I dont want a scene" rather than "I am genuinely sorry what can i do to make up". We left a $0 tip and left with a sour taste in our mouths.
Needless to say, this may be the taste of India but is most definitely not the spirit of India.
GOOD food and service.
what a wonder full night we had in taste of india it was my first time having indian food and it was so amazing. We walked in to this resturant last saturday it was kinda busy so the owner himself came to us and took us to our table. After that our waiter came to our table and i told him its my first time here so he suggested me some of the thing which were amzing he brought me chicken korma, keema naan, basmati rice and the most important thing its was so cold outside so i asked him if u have any thing to start off that can make my body tempreature down so he said yes we have a speacial indian soup called mulgatani soup its was so amazing.thier waiters are very kind and loving they treated me like they know me from long long time.

yumi yumi. Great place for lunch or dinner on any given day/night. Very casual space. Great food. Good service. Good value. My husband and I have been tried many Indian restaurants and my husband's favorite dish is, of course, the popular chicken tikka masala.... and he claims that Taste Of India makes the BEST chicken tikka masala... and I may just have to agree..... =]
best food and service. I was really surprised to see nefgative comments for Taste Of India. It is the best Indian restaurant I have ever seen in LA. There food are very very good and consistently good. I have been to india and had Indian Cuisine there. I feel no difference. Even tastier and healthier than what I had in India. There food are great, good service and manager"s personal attention to what is being delivered to customer had impressed me a lot. If I ever want to go to any Indian restaurant that will be TASTE OF INDIA and TASTE OF INDIA only, where Indian cuisine is at its best!!!!!
Best service and food i have ever had.
Five Stars!
After telling me how great this place was my friends brought me here for dinner today. I have to say I was impressed. Even though it might be a little Americanized it was the best INDIAN food I have had. I mean, the service was very good the food was really flavorful. I didn't even have to add any extras spices to make my food more flavourable it was perfect
After taking our orders we were given some kinda appitizers called samosas (On the house from managar cauz we waited so long for our table it was so bz over there) which was perfect for an appitizer. I ordered the Chicken tikka masala, rice, and garlic naan. I have to tell you it was amazing.
The service was great, I mean the staff was very attentive.Owner and manager they both came to our table and asked everything is fine .Waiter he picked up our plates quickly after we were done with each one.
