Great Browsing Atmosphere

Along Sherman Oak's Ventura Blvd, The Psychic Eye Bookstore offers a calming environment to sink into a collection of curious tomes, fragrant oils, herbal ingredients for majick practices, hand-made items, greeting cards, wall hangings, lanterns, and more. My main gripe about the place has always been its lack of organization. Although it is always clean and tidy, I can't find anything specific there. If I want a book on a particular topic or by a particular author, I am better off going anywhere else. If I am OK poking thru their collection for things I did not plan on getting, I sometimes come out with a real gem. They do make it easy to look thru the inventory. I have purchased audio programs there that have been life-changing. They have some psychics there who are dead-on accurate and extremely helpful - not all of them, but the ones who last long-term are among the best I have met. They also offer classes. I have not taken any but hopefully I will. I regularly buy their essence oils, incense, and small gift items. Those interested in occult jewely will be delighted by the unique and comprehensive selection for a wide range of prices. I have bought their tapestries for tableclothes and bedspreads and enjoyed them a lot. The employees are mellow and unintrusive, polite and helpful when you have a question, but otherwise, they let you shop in peace. It is a great place to pull out of traffic and relax for a while. THe parking, however is dodgy, and you may have to park a few streets over to get a free spot. Besides the parking, the only thing keeping me from giving this icon a 5 star rating is the disorganization of the books. The used section is actually much better than the new section.

Book Shop lacking Books

I was underwelmed when I went to this shop. The atmosphere wasn't very welcoming & most of the shelves were empty. First time I've gone to a metaphysical shop and left feeling worse than when I went in.

Offbeat Atmospheric Shopping at it's Best!

I had been to the Psychic Eye's Burbank location before..it was small and rather unimpressive, but the one in Sherman Oaks blew me away. There's a great selection of herbs, candles, Tarot cards, tumbled stones, as well as religious statues (from every religion there is, I think) and tons of great gifty items. I tend to stop by a couple of times a week now (blush) because there's always something new to look at, I enjoy getting a reading every now and then from their psychic readers. For the most part, the psychics are good readers and genuinely believe in what they do, which is very nice. The staff are fun and helpful, despite the fact that their phones ring off the hook and rarely let them away from the front desk.

If you do stop in, listen to some of the music they play...it's a really unique blend of New Age/World with really cool ambient electronica and soundtrack jazz mixed in. All in all, a truly unique atmosphere and fun place to shop. Definitely recommended!

Affordable Therapy or where to buy unique gifts.

I am very lucky to have this store in my city. It helps me, when I'm down or up, or just want to have extra inspiration. I've always got help and when I'm in need it's my "therapist". I'll go there with my BIG VERY IPORTANT UNIQUE problem and after 15' minutes reading I feel helped. I'm able to afford whenever I need immediate help.

Plus as a store it's special & the staff is helpful & I'm also able to afford to buy things. It's fun. It's great!
