incredible artist, fantastic tattoo studio, very friendly everyone, great music, great place
good place to be a repeat customer. I got my first tattoo done on my foot at another shop, and last month got my second on my shoulder done here by Saul. He was super nice, made it seem like the pain i was about to experience was an everyday no big deal thing haha. i wanted a quote and ended up spending foreverrr(sorry haha) trying to pick the perfect font... but they seriously had thousands to pick from. After that-- the hardest part haha, everything else went swiftly and smoothly. He has a really light hand, it barely hurt at all(or as little as anyone would expect from needles..)and he worked fast. Ill definetly be coming back for my next one =]
Simply Amazing. Erika is an exceptional artist who knows how to tune in to her clients on a spiritual and 'soul' level. Her work is impeccable. My piece on my arm is simply stunning.
Saul is incredible!!.
First, I'll start with a quick backstory to let you know where I'm coming from. I'm from a very small town in the midwest, so when I was 18 and wanted a tattoo, my logic was: "melrose is famous, everything on melrose must be good" so I walked into a tattoo parlor on melrose for my first tattoo. I know, really stupid, but I was 18 and as green as they come...
The guy literally carved the tattoo into my lower back. I asked for a small outline of a fairy , what I got was a 5 year olds version of a scary looking fairy doing mushrooms on my back.... the pain was so bad, my palms were sweating and I was trying not to pass out. I always heard that tattoos were painfull so I didn't want to complain. My tattoo artist changed the bandage 4 times before I left because I was bleeding so badly, I ended up having to go to the hospital to have it cauterized shut.
So... you all have the worst possible tattoo experience in your mind?
I lived with that horrendous tattoo for 8 years, and because of my experience, I was terrified to do anything about it.
Finally, I started looking around for cover up artists because I couldn't stand having something so embarassing on my body anymore.
I found Saul, at Horns and Halos Tattoo in Sherman Oaks. I saw some of his work, and his stuff is awesome! Whether you are looking for new work or, especially cover ups, he's definitely your guy!
I was so scared, but he and the staff there really put me to ease. Let me tell you, the cover up was no big deal as far as pain, even over my scar tissue. And the artwork?? If you didn't know where to look to see my cracked out fairy, you wouldn't be able to see her at all. And the new tat is beautiful! Amazing job!!!
I would reccommend him to everyone who wants a tattoo, or is looking for a cover up!
I can't thank him enough for making me feel comfortable in my skin again.
Editorial Review. A huge part of Hollywood's '80s heyday, legendary portrait artist Lou Bone's former namesake shop ("Art to the Bone") still brings in the young Hollywood set with its anime-style work.
Fantastic tattoo studio with hip vibe!!. This place is so great, I can't believe no one has reviewed it! 2 years ago I went to this place off the recommendation of a friend. The studio is soo clean, and they autoclave their needles which is the reason I went in the first place. Everyone was very friendly and the atmosphere was very hip and laid-back. They play great music too! Art (the owner) was my tattoo-ist and he was very reassuring and meticulous about making sure I was comfortable. He is an incredible artist and to this day my tattoo has not faded to that ugly green that I've seen a lot of tattoos turn. I'm going back there in a few months to get another one - it's the only place I'll go to get a tattoo!
