great average food, good steaks, great service, great place, nice quiet romantic restaurant, really bad first service, great waiters
Such a fun historic spot. Great for late night night, when you can order eggs benedict, a cheese plate or a Midnight Cowboy Steak, depending on your mood.
Waste of time and Waste of money!!!. after waiting close to an hour for my steak, the rib-eye arrived barely cooked. i had to saw through the uncooked flesh to get a raw sinewy piece of meat. i would have have told the waiter to fix it, but he was absent for the whole meal. not only was he absent, he was snooty. i have worked in restaurants for years- and i dont often complain, but in this case i feel it would be wrong if i didn't share this terrible experience with potential patrons. i would have understood the lack of attention from the staff if it was busy, but my girlfriend and i were the only people in the restaurant at 3:00 pm on a saturday afternoon. this was my only experience at this restaurant. i hope it is not normally this awful, but i will waste my time and money elsewhere.
Yum! Yum!. Very nice atmosphere and a very relaxed dining experience. Always great food and ample servings.
Steak ok, Fish never. For just over $100 per person you'll have some fabulous wine, great service and some pretty average food. Chef knows how to plate and make food look attractive but if you expect a fabulous steak that makes your mouth joyful, it's a risk. And I would certainly never again order the fish. For $40 a la carte you'll receive frozen sea bass (properly thawed perhaps) and then the sides are a la carte. Of course it has to be $40 in order to price on parity with the other mains.
Great food, Elegantly Presented. A Los Angeles classic, still going strong after 85 years! Quality, quiet, comfort, privacy, great food and great service. It's good for a special occasion or anytime. It's open 24 hours. You pay for all of this wonderfulness, but it's well worth it. Enjoy!
WE LOVE PDC!!!. After living in LA, most notably downtown, PDC has been one of the few consistently good restaurants in the area. My friends and I especially love the late night breakfast menu. The eggs benedict are unmatched to any I have ever had. The best part of PDC is that it is open 24 hours!!! What other restaurant can you go after a late night on the town and have an exceptional meal? The other great part about PDC is the staff! The waiters are great - so nice, attentive, and friendly. They remember us every time we come in and are the best. I can't say enought about this place. It is one of the my favorite spots in LA!!!!
Pacific Dinind Car. I think this place is incredible. It is so romantic and warm. The atmosphere is very quiet and soft. the dark lighting is unbelievably romantic and special. It is definately a place to go to rekindle some long overdue romance. I love this place and it helped spark some much needed flames between my husband and I.
Good but too expensive. Tried Pacific Dining Car mostly because it was an LA institution and had to go at least once. Very nice atmosphere, quiet and plush. Food was good (notice i said good, not great) The steak was tasty but could've used a little more seasoning. The prices will make your eyes pop out. If you are looking for a really top notch steak (such as at Mastros, Arnie Mortons, etc) you will be disappointed here because its not as good and actually more expensive. I recommend going once, but we probably won't go back because you can get better food for less bucks.
Just too expensive.... For the price, you'd expect way more. My wife and I shelled out $120 for our evening (that included tip and $5 for the valet). I'll admit, service was wonderful. You feel pampered. But it seems that nothing on the menu is under $35 for an entree. My wife and I only purchased a steak for the each of us, a side dish (everything is a la carte), and 2 cokes. I've never spent so much for so little.
Relying on Old Reputation. This was without equal one of the worst evenings I have ever endured in a restaurant. The food was atrocious--served cold, one person in our party did not receive their dinner until most of us had finished--at $30plus per steak an apology would certainly be order at a minimum--I had made a reservation three weeks prior to the evening we went --explaining that I was bringing clients--yet we were seated in a booth in front of the restroom. The servers vanished throughout our meal and never once came by to check on us .Finally--at approximately $100 per person I would strongly recommend bypassing this relic of yore and heading downtown to Nick & Stefs or across town to Ruth's Chris where at least one leaves the restaurant complacent and not feeling completely ripped off.
One of the Best in LA. I took a group a cleints here for a business lunch and it was by far the best restaurant I have been to in L.A.. I had a large party and the service was perfect and everyone loved their food. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you have clients to entertain or if you are looking for a nice quiet romantic restaurant. They seem to be able to accommodate any size party from 2 to 20.
