Burbank Village area casual Indian eatery offers menu staples like chicken tikka masala and saag paneer to locals, families, dates.
Food decent, but with small portions, bland atmosphere, & poor customer service it's kind of pricey for what you get

First of all, we were in no hurry, but service was slow. It was 7 minutes before the waiter bothered to come over to get a drink order. The prices were higher than we expected, given the decor and service. (White office walls, with blah furniture and a few wall hangings.) Ordered the chicken curry ($10.95), saag paneer ($10.95), and a garlic naan ($3.95). I asked if they could bring some mango chutney with the naan and was told that would be extra. ($1.95)
About 20 minutes after ordering our food was "delivered". I was surprised because I thought, at least maybe the portions will be large and we can have the leftovers for lunch. It was not to be, as the portions were not what we had expected - an average sized cereal bowl. The naan was about 9"x 5". Also, the food was brought out without rice. Rice is extra, so I ordered it. I didn't mind having to pay extra for rice, but with all the extra charges and small protions I also wasn't surprised. In the end, our meal for two cost over $40.00 for a really plain atmosphere, small portions, and okay food. Specifically: curry was good, saag paneer was okay - had 4 pieces of cheese in it, rice was weird & mushy and garlic naan hardly had any garlic. Oh, and halfway through the meal the (owner, manager?) came out and dropped off a condiment tray.
My advice for the restaurant:
1. Banish the white: The white walls are bland, slightly depressing, and remind me of a lower end retirement home dining room.
2. Better servers: Not sure if the one server who was serving the entire dining area received unexpected business but if you're going to have one server on during the weeknight how about having someone on staff who can handle multiple tables and has a pleasant demeanor?
3. Less Scrooge-like: Given your decor & service, don't come off as miserly with the food: paying extra for rice & mango chutney is something many other restaurants do not do, even while they have nice decor, large portions, and excellent service.
don't bother

if you want good indian food, don't eat here. this is more like mc indian food. my sag paneer tasted like it was out of a can. my lassi drink was spoiled. the service is atrocious. i saw a couple walk out tonight because they waited a long time and didn't get their food while tables around them did. i felt bad for them because I came in after them and got my food before them. the restaurant needs to learn some customer service skills asap. finally, the chairs and decor are hideous. i won't be going back.
- Pros: none
- Cons: food, decor, service
Great Indian food in the valley.

I used to go to this place all the time in the late 1990's. It has a very tasty buffet and a nice setting in downtown Burbank. I'd go there so often that I used to have my own table near the front window where I could watch passersby while I ate their delectable tandoori chicken and chicen tikka masala. They've also got great Navratan Korma and Saag Paneer. I recommend trying the buffet if you are new to Indian food. For veterans, you can also call ahead to see what is on the buffet, which I used to do every Friday afternoon.
- Pros: Flavor, price, casual comfortable setting
- Cons: parking a little difficult
