favorite local airport, close parking, more convenient burbank airport, annoying finicky traff, annoying ticket lines, dirty shuttle bu, good explanation
pretty good. this is a pretty good airport. i highly recommend flying into here if you are visitng an area near the valley, there's no point to fly the LAX but sometimes it can be cheaper since it is a bigger airport.
My favorite airport. This airport is my favorite from all the ones I have used in the world. It is so convenient to get in and out. I just wish there were more airlines. I wish the city would let it expand. The noise is not as bad as the city says. I would like ti use the airport to fly nonstop to cites like Washington DC and Boston.
Better than LA. I fly to see my girlfriend a couple times a month, and she flies down here when I'm not flying up north to see her. Burbank Airport is five minutes from my house, and I like to park at their lots for $12 a day when I don't get a lift or take a taxi. It's a small airport, to be sure, but with that limited size comes speed and convinience you don't get in more major airports. You plane and deplane on a tarmac, from both the front and rear on movable stairways. This gives a feeling of something akin to arriving in a small airport on some island somewhere. I've made it through security in less than 10 minutes most times, except Monday mornings when I've noticed it's the craziest.
In a city synonymous with youthful exteriors, this airport remains a charming antique..
The Scene
Thirteen miles from downtown Los Angeles, the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport regally bears the stains and scars of its 70-plus years. Closer than LAX to downtown, Hollywood and all of the other San Fernando Valley attractions, the Burbank Airport is a convenient gateway in and out of the L.A. area.
Facts
Five million passengers use the airport each year, and in order to facilitate their famous ease of use, the Airport Authority has proposed increasing the terminal from 170,000 to 250,000 square feet. The 14 aircraft gates would remain, but concourse, concession and lounge areas would be expanded.
Don't Valet Park!.
On getting our car back from the valet, we found a woman's make-up on the passenger side of the car. No one had a good explanation and the only thing we can think of is that someone took the car for a night out while we were on vacation :-(
DON'T USE THE VALET!
The best So Cal airport. If you live in north-central LA county, this small Valley airport is the ideal place to catch a shuttle to Phoenix, Vegas or San Fran. The outdoor luggage carousels are great, parking is abundant and close to the terminal and the crowds are obviously smaller than LAX. Spotted a few celebrities (Sean Penn and the St. Louis Cardinals) here as well. The one drawback? Food is overpriced and options are very limited.
If you have to fly.........
this is the place. I never did like flying. It's not the airplane that bothers me, it's the trouble that you have to go through just getting your flight. And now, since 9/11 it's even worse.
So when I do fly this is the airport I choose. The parking is great and close by, the wait isn't too long, and the customer service seems better then LAX.
Perfect as an Airport Gets. Why anybody flies out of LAX for a domestic flight (especially a commuter flight) is beyond me. The Burbank Airport is a thousand times more convenient. It has only two terminals, the majority of which are for no frills airline Southwest. Theres all the usual fast food spots, bars and gift shops. Remote and airport parking is easily accessible, and theres rental cars onsite (note: Budget is not at the airportits further down Hollywood Way, as is Enterprise).
Fly, Fly Away.... With air travel becoming increasingly more difficult, Burbank stands out as a clear winner. This is the most convenient airport in LA. Parking is a breeze. Pick Economy lots, A, B, or C and pay only $9.00/day. Southwest, United and Alaska all fly out of Burbank. While it will cost a bit of premium to fly from Burbank as compared to LAX, it is well worth it.
If heaven had an airport.... ...this is it. Parking? Easy and close by. Lines? Short and move fast. Traffic? Easily navigated. Customer Service? Easy to find and incredibly helpful. Baggage claim? You've got two choices: Carousel A or Carousel B. It's airports like this that encourage me to take a last minutes trip with ease and check my bag with no worries. I wish I could leave from Burbank every flight.
