In Short – Deftly surviving the chain-coffeehouse onslaught, this local coffee house is a popular spot for those writing scripts, reading books, holding mini-meetings or just people-watching. It's part cafe and part novelty store, selling funky cards, calendars, boutique kitchenwares and cow kitsch alongside drinks and sweets. An outside walk-up window caters to the on-the-go crowd and patio patrons. In addition to coffee, the kitchen serves smoothies, fresh sandwiches, salads and homemade breads like pumpkin and zucchini.
Editor's Tips
- The Extras:
- Computers are available at the counter for internet use. Patrons with their own laptops can get online with the purchase of an internet card.
- Parking:
- The small lot in the rear is available nights and weekends. There is additional parking through the alley and to the west along the fence behind the theater.
- When to Go:
- Weekend tables are hard to come by, as customers tend to stay put once they get one. Try coming early, or develop a keen eye for people wrapping up.

Fantastic little coffee shop

I moved to area about 4 months ago and Priscilla's is my favorite place to go in Toluca Lake.
It has a great feel, the staff is so friendly, and the coffee is consistently amazing. I've tried their gourmet blends which range in the $4 range, but have I've switched to their "regular" Swiss coffee which has the same exactly great taste specialty blends (especially the Mocha) except for two bucks less. What a great buy!
For $2.70 I can have a 20 oz gourmet coffee without the $4.50 price tag. You'll be hard pressed to find of that quality at Starbucks for a "regular" coffee that taste just like a Mocha.
What's also great about this place is the coffee is never bitter. EVER. I was also surprised how incredibly caffeinated this coffee was without the strong taste of an espresso. It's taste incredibly light which only adds to the beauty of how well they make their coffee here.
The downside is that they do get rather crowded. But Toluca Lake is really beautiful were you can just take you coffee with you and walk down Riverside DR. and look at all the boutique shops.
But I highly recommend their Swiss coffee (mixture of coffee, chocolate, and milk.cream) a 20oz for $2.70. It's the best value for your money.
If you want something a little more gourmet try their Mint Mocha (around $4.00) or their orange coffee, both are fantastic!
- Pros: consistent, strong without being bitter, friendly staff
- Cons: crowded at times, not enough parking
Love It!

This is a great coffee house. Warm, friendly atmosphere. Super tasty coffee drinks. Good assortment of loose teas and coffee beans. Interesting array of people. Lots of stars come here from nearby studios. Have seen Miley Cyrus, Mel Gibson, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Candace Bergen and others. Great place to people watch or just relax.
- Pros: Ambience, Coffee Drinks, Service

I absolutely love Priscilla's and go there almost every day. Their baristas are extremely cool, very polite and super friendly. None of them ever gave me any attitude or was rude.
There are a lot of industry people come there to write whatever they are writing on their laptops but it does not bother me at all. What crowd can you expect if the coffee shop is located pretty much across the street from the studios?!
I like their coffee. It is much better than Starbucks.
It can get a little bit crowded on weekends but i've never waited too long to get a table.
Never had problems finding parking either.
- Pros: coffee, atmosphere, parking, free internet
You will love it.

I'm actually pretty surprised to read some of the negative comments in this section. This is a great spot for all of the reasons you go to a coffee shop: free internet, great coffee, yummy pastries, great people watching, and a place to sit and read, write or meet with a friend. I know people who move away from the area and long for a place like this. It's really a sweet spot to hang out. It's true...very industry...but it's not pretentious. I think it's pretty ironic when people live, oh, 3 blocks from 5 major studios and complain that it feels too "industry". If you don't like the vibe, then move to Northridge or Simi Valley...there's plenty of vanilla strip mall suburbia waiting for you.
Honestly, still the best Hot Chocolate around...and I'm quite an experienced coffee house girl. Priscilla's is a refreshing space in our city of Starbucks lined streets. Enjoy!
Great escape from Starbucks!

Yes, it's full of industry people writing screenplays, but it's a great little coffeeshop. I've always had excellent service from the staff, and they've got a great variety of drinks and snacks (really good croissant sandwiches and pastries, although they're better earlier in the day). A coffeeshop that makes hot apple cider always gets a good grade in my book :) Most of the patrons are friendly and will strike up conversations out of the blue, and I've even seen people offer up an empty seat at their table to a stranger when it's crowded. If you're looking to break away from the chain coffeeshops in the area, this is the place.
- Pros: nice atmosphere, good hot apple cider, large tables, adequate plugs for laptops, nice service
- Cons: can be crowded, loads of industry people
