Do you home work, Check the numbers

by larrywhite at Citysearch

I wish I had read the other reviews and I could have saved my self alot of grief. I am a very thorough purchaer. I do my homewrok and run the numbers before I make a decision. I knew the exact price of the vehicle based on the invoice and the interest rate I could qualify for due to my income and credit. I had already received a quote from another Ford franchise. I was very well prepared. I spoke to an internet manager and we confirmed the equipment on the vehicle was correct. He faxed me the sticker price as verification. I made an appointment to come in and meet in person. This should have been a formality. Yet it wasn't. The closer came out and introduced himself and gave me the price and payment. The term was 72 months and the rate was 1.9%higher than it should have been. One of the ways a dealership can manipulate the variables to their advantage is charge a higher finance rate and extend the term on the financing.. The client can qualify for the lower rate and term yet they are not given those variables. It is a tactic someotimes used when the profit on the vehicle is thin. A small difference in payment or interest can be explained due to variances in overhead at diffent franchises. The payment was $100 more than the previous dealership with similiar numbers. I got angry and left. The closer asked me to come back inside and see the numbers on his computer. I said ok. He put in the variables again and showed me the screen. The number shocked him as well. I was correct. The correct payment was over a $100 less than the one the manager had oriiginally stated. He could not explain why. It is very unfortunate that a few people can damage the reputation of an entire industry. The large majority of people in the car business are hard working honest people. Do your homework, Check your numbers. Then check them again. The internet has become a powerful consumer tool. There are a large number of sites to help you in the decision process. A mistake can put you upside down in a car for years.

CHOOSE ANOTHER DEALER

by pilotw at Citysearch

First the facts:

1. Brought my truck in for an oil change (Saturday) and basic service. Also had a small issue with hesitation at low end so they performed an "inspection" at an additional $140. They advised this was due in part to a sticking throttle body which I was advised needed replacing at $600+. (after bringing the car home and cleaning out the throttle body. The car runs fine.} They never inspected the throttle body.

2. Upon picking up my truck, there was now a large crack running down the windshield. Service advisor said this was likely due to the dealership putting cold water on the windshield when they washed the car after service. Said they would fix it and said he would call me by Tuesday to advise on repair.

3. Called Friday as I had not heard from them. Said they would put in a used windshield. Said this will not do as my windshield is in perfect condition and I am not taking anything that is not in perfect condition, cannot be guaranteed, and has come from a wrecked vehicle. This also goes against Ford replacement standards.

4. Said to bring car down for the service manager by 5 to inspect. Went today before 5 and they told me the service manager left. (Side note: As another service person, Sean was insulting another customer saying they don't make the vehicles, Ford does, therefore they are not responsible, I chimed in telling him that was ludicrous and he informed me I am not part of the conversation. Seems to fit in with the general culture there.

5. Was directed to another young lady who was nice enough, but again I informed her I would not be accepting anything less than a new windshield. Said she would have Mike the service manager call me.

6. NOTE: If they refuse to install a new OEM windshield by a reputable installer to factory specs, I will File suit immediately and post a link to a copy of it and the judgement here and at every other major review site. This in addition to letters to Ford and other local business organizations and consumer boards that could possibly affect their business. My business associates are on the Toluca Lake Chamber Board and we are affiliated with all of the local studios.

Now My Opinion:

As of now, I would highly recommend service or vehicle purchase at another dealership. To remain impartial I will not give names, but there are a couple of other good dealerships in other areas of the valley. Even if you have to pay a little more, go somehwere else. I have yet to speak with the service manager, but will update here after I do. This review will have a few chapters or updates. Against my better judgement I went here out of convenience. I usually go to another dealership that is outstanding. There are several negative reviews for this dealership, and though maybe not well articulated, there is some accuracy here. They defintely have some bad element here and it is so void of basic customer service as to insult the intelligence of most people. I will post updates and report accurately. If Sunrise calls me in a timely manner and states they will repair the damage in a timely manner and as I have reasonably requested, that is what I will report here and adjust accordingly. PLEASE CHECK BACK FOR UPDATES.

Stereotypical Cheating Mechanics

by LittleMissM at Citysearch

I first went to Sunrise Ford last September when sent to the "dealership" for my Ford Escort because my normal mechanic was honest enough to state that they could not accurately diagnosis my problem. When I arrived I explained I was sent by another mechanic for this reason. I also explained that I had another place recently do transmission work and they found a faulty relay that was causing the air conditioning compressor to run all the time but could not get the part because of backorders. Ford spent the entire day "analyzing" my vehicle and determined I had a rotten pcv pipe that needed to replace and then a tune up (that was over $600). When I asked about the relay, I was informed by Anthony that it was working fine. Anthony was really nice and talked about how their per hour labor charges were cheaper then independent mechanics which they were about $5 dollars cheaper so I thought I found a new place and taking your car to its dealership is better right. In November my air conditioning compressor seized snapping the serpentine belt (that was over $900). In March my car threw that brand new serpentine belt. When I questioned why did it throw the new belt, they had no answers. They spent the day "analyzing" my car and finally determined that the relay I mentioned back in September was bad. When brought up the fact that if they had fixed it back in September these other problems would not have occurred, they made up excuses (this cost me $2000).

In May I got a call from them stating that their notes stated that it was time to get my brakes done. Due to financial reasons and the fact that my brakes didn't appear to be acting worn, I didn't race over there. Not to say I wasn't freaking paranoid that they might be bad. So Today (August) I took the car in for an oil change and brakes. I told the guys that rear brakes were change last year so that it was just the front brakes that needed to be looked at. Three hours later I get a call stating that my brakes were fine so I only got an oil change. When I went to pay it was $98. I was floored. They told me they had to charge me for the techs time because he had to take the drum apart to inspect and run it through a machine. I stated that I didn't tell you to check the back but the front which are disk that just require a quick visual. They then claimed they had to check both because I came in complaining about the brakes. I shot back that I came into about the brakes because they called and told me I needed to which at that point Nick got pissy with me stating why should I do anything for you when you are getting angry with. Um anger is a normal response to being ripped off Jerk.

I will never go there again. Instead will be going back to Mountain View Goodyear where while their hourly labor is cheaper they are at least honest and don't charge for things they don't fix.

Stay away, please, stay away...

by Angry Ford Buyer at Citysearch

This place is all of the rings of Dante's inferno placed into a giant dial of pain, lies, and deceit. They have no follow through, integrity, or honesty. It was the worst car purchasing experience I have ever had. I can only say that to buy a car at this dealership is to support a system of car sales that sucks. They are cheats in front of you and ignore you once you've signed your papers. I hope one day to meet the owner of the Ford Company to tell him how awful this dealership is!!!

  • Pros: None. They are the worst.
  • Cons: Too numerous to mention.

Terrible scummy dealership

by sevalley at Citysearch

They did everything they could to give me a hard fast sell, lied to me about what my warranty would cover and which options I had agreed to, lied that I would get one free detailing job after the purchase, and abandoned me the minute I signed the papers. I still got a good deal on my car, and financing was easy, but since the purchase, they have been terrible to deal with and several of their lies have surfaced as I needed warranty repairs. Their service department people were nice to me, but I would never go back, just to avoid their location reporting good business. I have had much better experiences at the Santa Monice Buerge Ford dealer, try them instead.

  • Pros: Low Prices, Easy Financing if you have good credit
  • Cons: Everything else, liars and scumbags
