What People Are Saying About Ha Ha Cafe

In Short – NoHo's premiere humor spot began as a restaurant in 1988, but was revamped for comedy ten years later. Rock-and-roll memorabilia decorates the room where raw, relatively new talent tries to get laughs. Touring A-listers poke their heads in from time to time, but it's the weekly theme nights like "Soul Phunny: and Saturday's Latino night that keep the regulars coming.

Editor's Tips

Know Before You Go:
Don't talk during performances or you risk being singled out by the performers. Repeat offenders often become part of the act, willing or not.
Save Money:
Grab a free show ticket from the window-sill stacks next to the bar, and have the cover waived on your next visit.

Gotta Try Ha Ha Cafe!!

by yesenia9380 at Citysearch

I love this place. Ha Ha Cafe runs twice on Friday and Saturday nights with their all-star line up. If you're into going out on a Saturday nigh but not to a club, this is a great place. If you sit in the front Comedians will roast you, also if you sit on the Center. Service gets delayed a bit when you order drinks, but I assume because there is not that many servers. The security guards are nice too, no problems. The crowd is an excellent crowd very diverse and friendly, sometimes you usually make buddies with strangers while you're there laughing because they remember you getting roasted. I had a blast here and now I am a regular here.

  • Pros: Comedians, Cover Charge
  • Cons: Drink Prices

Overhyped, not fun

by powellp at Citysearch

Was really excited to come here. The service was pretty good, but the drinks were WEAK. A couple of the comics were awesome, but a few were horrible and their sets depending too much on racial and gay jokes. I have a pretty thick skin, but some of the routines by the "regulars" were over the top offensive. I think that said a lot about the club that booked them. The crowd seemed ready to laugh, but some of the comics just kept trying to "shock" the audience instead of entertaining them. I won't be going back and will not be recommending it to any of my friends.

  • Pros: Pretty cheap and a couple of the comics were hilarious
  • Cons: Why support comics who rely on insulting minorities?

Great talent! Big names

by nesquake at Citysearch

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of comedians. I went on a Monday night, Damon Wayans popped in and did killer set. I went back on Saturday and saw Carlos Mencia. It was a great time, all my friends had a blast!

Awful Service, so-so comedy....

by smalnr88 at Citysearch

Upon arriving I was very excited about the show and food. I had a friend tell me that it was really fun. I got there before my friends did, and I ordered some food and a drink from the bar and the waitress/bartender gave me the worst attitude. I have been in the food industry before and know how difficutl it is sometimes waiting tables, but this was ridiculous. She even had the audacity to say something and treat my friends the same way...! The comedians were pretty good, but very long... There was probably 15 different acts, and I'd say 3 or 4 were good. They had one guy who had gone through a stroke, and he couldn't remember his own jokes...I might give this place a 2nd try if my friends decided to go back (not likely), but the attitude from the staff needs to be seriously evaluated... I'd stick to comedy clubs in Hollywood...
