recommending place, big screen tv, great lunches, extraordinarily friendly lisa, highly recommend barsac, great drinks, wonderful service
Really Enjoyed Myself HERE!!!!. I enjoy their food here. I don't know if it's also the same chef cooking as the one in Top Chef this season, but at least I like the super fast way they get the food out to you, without feeling hurried. More accurately, I think I should say that the food comes out in successions, at the perfect timing.
Good place to share dishes.
Went here the other day with friends from work and had some great food. We decided to each get a dish and share. We got the pesto gnocchi, burrata salad and a vegetarian panini. All were really good.
The place is also quite interesting for North Hollywood. You seem to forget where you are once you step through the doors. They seem to have an amazing wine selection and a fully-stocked bar - not to mention fancy-pantsy artwork on the wall and a super-friendly staff that is full of smiles.
Will definitely eat there again, and it's not as pricey as you would think - we split the bill for three people and it only came out to around $18 each including tip.
Utterly ordinary. Not sure what everyone is raving about. Service was uneven, food was ordinary and I could not hear myself think. Won't be going back or recommending this place.
Citysearch Editorial Review. Fans of "Top Chef" will enjoy this ornately-designed Italian bistro opened by season five contestant Fabio Viviani. Guests sitting against the wine-bottle stacked wall or underneath traditional chandeliers indulge in beef carpaccio and fried calamari paired with tempura zucchini until plates of caprese, ahi tuna salad and lobster ravioli hit the table. While menu items lean more on the side of traditional than inventive, in-the-know customers can still fill their discerning bellies with veal shank, seafood pasta and cannoli for dessert.
Oh my gosh. Ive never had italian food this good., I think they make the pasta fresh I'm the restaurant and the parm topping was sliced. It was amazing. I'm in food coma.
Barsac NOW FIRENZE & Spectacular.
Lisa Long, one of Barsac's original owners, just brought in an incredible new chef (Fabio - so talented, SO handsome, so witty, and SO soon to have a show on Bravo). The room feels like a sunfilled palazzo. But the seating is still the same (privacy). The big screen TV in the bar/eating area still cool. And now they tore down the wall blocking the kitchen so you can see the chef in action.
And the food. My husband and I tried it out just a week after it opened...for lunch (10/30/09) and the food was like world-class spectacular. The way Fabio (I know. It sound like a romance-hero model. But he IS FINE!) combines flavors, textures...the unexpected. We were guided by Joe-the-bartender/waiter to try the "Short Rib Ravioli" - not something I ever would have picked but I was there to test the place. OMGEEEEEE. Even an ordinary dish like my husband's pasta and seafood took on a whole new character. And on and on. (we did desserts too).
The pace was leisurely. They never rushed us. The new sunny-but-soft lighting let you see friends across the room. No sitting on top of strangers. And the prices seem better than before, so now i can meet my girlfriends there too.
Incredible Service, Delicious Food and Great Place to Throw a Party. Don't let the plain exterior fool you, the place is beautiful inside. I highly recommend Barsac for a meal or to have a party there. I had my 30th birthday party there, and I closed the restaurant down on a Saturday night for my 90 guests. This was a sit down affair, with dancing and lots of great food and drinks. Lisa (the owner) was extraordinarily friendly and accommodating. The wait staff was on point the whole night, and made sure that all of the guests' expectations were exceeded. Overall, the night was amazing and there was no better place to have this event.
