In Short
Trees strung with lights, blazing fireplaces and colorful masks decorate this Italian country inn-style eatery, which sits a stone's throw from Universal Studios. The Venetian cooking can't be mistaken for light Tuscan fare--entrees are hearty and filling and adorned with fresh Parmesan or mozzarella cheese--and are typified by gnocchi or the slow-roasted lamb shank. From the selection of homemade desserts, the rich vanilla-creme custard is especially popular.

The food was terrific, reservations were easy, the staff was outstandin! As we had theater reservations, they gave very rapid service. Did I say the food was excellent? Thank you for a wonderful experience!

We used to eat here once in a while when they first opened and I was working nearby. The food was good but pricey - more for special occasion lunches. I recently called in the morning to try to make a lunch reservation. They hung up on me twice, then the 3rd time kept me on hold for almost ten minutes. When the hostess finally picked up the phone and I said I wanted to make a reservation, she replied (in an irritated tone of voice), "Y'know what, I'm busy. I'm gonna have to call you back." Regardless of how good the food is, if a restaurant treats me like a mere annoyance, I tend not to go back. Ca' del Sol is going to have to teach their staff some phone manners before they see any more of my business. There's a place nearby on Riverside Drive called Prosecco, where the food is just as good and the staff are really wonderful. I highly recommend them as a more pleasant alternative.
Pros: Good food
Cons: Rude service
