WATCH THE "GRATUITY TIP"

WE'VE BEEN TO SHIKI MANY TIMES OVER THE YEARS, ALTHOUGH IT REALLY ISN'T AS TASTY AS IT USED TO BE, PROBABLY A RESULT OF NEW OWNERS. MY GRIPE IS THAT THEY ADDED AN 18% GRATUITY TIP TO MY BILL DURING LUNCH. THERE WAS NO WARNING OF THIS BEING A POSSIBLITY ON THE MENU THEY GAVE US NOR WAS A SIGN POSTED. THEY ALSO TAXED THE TIP MONEY AS PART OF THE GRATUITY. I SHOULD HAVE SAID SOMETHING BUT WE WERE CELEBRATING AND I WOULD HAVE TIPPED ANYWAY, BUT ABOUT FOUR DOLLARS LESS. I WAS WITH MY FAMILY AND A GUEST, SO WE HAD A TOTAL OF 5 ADULTS AND 1 YOUNG CHILD. I RESENTED WHAT THEY DID AND WILL BE RELUCTANT TO GO BACK.

• Cons: DISHONEST WITH MEAL CALCULATION

My Second Home

I walked into Shiki a year ago and was greeted like I was family. The sushi chefs are so friendly and genuine. Since that day, I eat at Shiki 3-4 times per week..sometimes twice a day! The fish is so fresh and surprisingly affordable! The portions are generous, so you don't spend a fortune. I've gotten all my friends addicted to this place. Some of them even come out from Santa Monica to eat at Shiki! Johnny, Eric, and Jay are the best sushi chefs ever! This place is my favorite restaurant hands down! I have a difficult time eating at other sushi spots...nothing can compare to Shiki!

Awesome rolls, usually pretty quick, even on weekends, and definitely worth a try! Try the Rolls Royce....it's killer!
