friendly service, great nigiri sushi, best sushi chefs, like sushi place, quite delectable more food, delicious everything, never disappoint portions
Complete heaven..... Okay, so the service is a little slow and the place can be packed, but who cares when you get HUGE portions of excellent cuts of fish? The Rolls Royce Roll is an obsession now and I find myself craving it at random times (try it with the spicy tuna roll). It comes piled high with enormous chunks of tuna mixed with tomatoes! Ask for the special rolls menu. I'm not supposed to tell anyone about this place... but considering some of the lame reviews I've seen here, I thought the world's pickiest eater (me) should chime in.
SUPER FRESH SUSHI EVER !!!!!!!! EXCELLENT MENU , FRIENDLY SERVICE. We ususally don't eat trendy, but this place was recommened, and it was well worth it. Sometimes fushion does not work with sushi, but at this place, the orignal sushi dishes were delicious. The service was friendly and helpful. I even got a beautiful birthday dessert, with a little candle.....!!!!!!!!!!!
Tons of food, beer and more food -- quite delectable if you don't want authentic.. Hey, I've been to Tokyo and Okinawa but I don't consider myself a sushi expert. I go here fairly often with some good friends of mine, and we're all... well, let's just say we can eat. The portions here never disappoint, and I think everything tastes great. One dish in particular features tuna and diced tomatoes with some pink mayonnaise-type sauce... I love it. They have the usual beer and sake choices. Their front dining area is small and the conversations get loud, so by the end of the night you'll be shouting over your crammed-beside-you neighbors. The front door is constantly opening and closing, and cigarette smoke drifts in each time. The servers might be a little slow, so it's best to know what you want sooner rather than later, and order everything at once. TIP: you can cut through the back parking lot to access Ventura Blvd., I think it connects to a gym and a financial company.
It used to be good......... My husband and I used to be regulars but not anymore. After we were gone on vacation for a month and a half we went back last week and......place looked different, all waiters were new, and almost all chefs were new as well. Scared but hoping for the better, we ordered all of our favorite dishes because the menu looked the same. The service was horrible we had to ask for everything twice or three times and we were brought someonelse's order, which they tried to tell us we did order....... When they brought my favorite dish it looked very different and I told our waitress that I think they forgot to put some ingridients in, she started telling me otherwise and (at this point I realize that I sounded like a btch) I told her that I have been a customer for the past four YEARS and she had just worked there for four WEEKS; therefore, I DO know btter what goes into my favorite dish..........at the end, after asking for our check three times, my husband got up and went to get it himself. Sad, but we will not be going back.
TOTALLY DISGUSTING. BECAUSE OF THIS GARBAGE SUSHI SPOT ... IT SET ME BACK IN MY SUSHI PROGRESS... I HAVE TREMORS EVERY TIME I THINK OF SUSHI NOW... IM TRAUMATIZED... THIS WAS BY FAR THE MOST DISGUSTING SUSHI I HAVE EVER TRIED.... IT WAS SO NASTY I HAD TO SET MY PLATES ON THE TABLE NEXT TO ME... YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED... IF YOU BUY ANY TYPE OF ROLLS YOU WILL GET CHUNKS OF NASTY THICK WATERY MEAT ALL OVER YOUR ROLLS.... ITS THE TYPE OF FOOD THAT WOULD MAKE U GAG ON THE SPOT....
Amazing dinner special!. My husband and I are "regulars" here. We're addicted to the Dinner Special: small portions of miso soup & bean sprouts sauted in sesame oil, salad, vegetables tempura, and then a choice of two sushi rolls (we get the spicy tuna and teriyaki chicken rolls). All this (a HUGE amount of high quality food that easily feeds two) for $11!! A great dinner, especially when accompanied with a bottle of Japanese beer. The service is also very good, although the restaurant can get busy on Fri/Sat evenings so you may have to wait for a table at peak times.
Others Can't Compare. My sister told me about this place a few years back, and I have been addicted ever since. The quality and beauty of the fish is unsurpassed. The place gets fairly hectic, especially Friday and Saturday evenings, so be prepared to wait. The sushi chefs are the best around and the servers are very nice. If you are a sushi lover, this place is hard to beat. Try the spicy tuna cut roll, chunk style. It has a huge mound of fresh tuna (mixed in the most delicious sauce ever) on top of six spicy tuna rolls. You will not be disappointed.
Best Sushi- ever.. Swamped with Russians wearing Versace and smoking cigars every Friday/ Saturday night, I highly recommend making a reservation. I go here about 3 times a week, and I love it. Everything they have is delicious, especially their dynamite (expect to wait a little longer for that, though). They have the best sushi, and you'll end up coming back every night. When you come in, you get a complimentary soup which is the best! Their new plasma tv is a little funny, though. Anyways, this is one of my favorite restaurants. Highly recommended.
Simply the best. This place is definitely the best Japanese Restaurant around. The food is excellent, the servings are huge and the prices are very reasonable and affordable. The service is very warm and friendly. Me and my friends will definitely be loyal patrons.
LA's best kept secret. A college buddy of mine told me about this place, and having never heard of it, I was skeptical. But I went with my wife to try it out and we were blown away. The sushi was of great quality and the portions were decent-sized considering the prices. The menu has innovate sushi items as well as the traditional ones. Shiki is great, and my wife and I are now loyal patrons.
