great service, great deli food, love arts deli, favorite pastrami, amazing food quality, love place, burnt coffee

I came in here the other day for lunch with a bad cold and ordered a bowl of the tasty kreplach—with a chicken noodle soup base and a huge dumpling filled with ground beef. It was hearty enough that I could have skipped the small salad I also ordered (but didn't).
Best Deli in Los Angeles. Art's deli, without a doubt, has the best pastrami and rye bread this side of the Atlantic. I eat there at least twice a week with my office mates. It beats the most popular deli's in NYC itself, the home of Kosher Deli's. The service is great. The selection of foods, sides, and bakery is fantastic. Their chopped liver is as good as mom made, and mom took great care and pride years back in making hers. The black and white cookies, just like back East, are delicious. With the parking structures across the street, the parking situation may be eased up. They do offer valet parking to alleviate the parking issue. Art's family has kept up Art's high standards without question.
Clean but overpriced. My $12 burger, was as lifeless and the cow that contributed to it, albeit, involuntarily. You need more enthusiasm in your food, otherwise you can just get a frozen dinner at Ralphs. Place was a quarter full saturday afternoon.
Valley noshery serves traditional Jewish-style comfort food.. With a tagline that reads "Every Sandwich is a Work of Art," this airy cafeteria-style dining room is like a breath of fresh air ... straight from the '50s. Opened in 1957 by Art Ginsberg (who still makes the rounds every week), this Valley favorite is the kind of place where everybody knows your name. (Or where you at least know the waitstaff's names, considering most of them have been here for more than 20 years.) From the plethora of Naugahyde, Formica and linoleum to the larger-than-life photos of pastrami and corned beef sandwiches ("Jewish exxxotica" according to Art), this is deli done right. Portions are hefty (we repeat, portions are hefty), whether it be the house chicken and matzo ball soup or a classic Cobb salad, so be prepared to take home leftovers. The whole sandwiches can practically feed a family of four while a half-sandwich, which is really more like a 2/3 sandwich, is plenty for two.
Used to be great.......
I used to love going to Art's where the turkey and roast beef sandwiches were stacked to the ceiling.
But even though the sandwiches are still thick, there is something unclean about the place. Maybe it's the fact I didn't feel well for a day after eating there?
Guys, you make food, clean up your act or your customers like me will all end up at Jerry's
3 Dollar Cup o' Joe. When you come to a deli you expect a few things, cheap food, quickly made and of decent quality. Art's Deli On Ventura is none of these things. The fruit is frozen, coffee is stale and burnt ($3/cup) even at 9 am, and the prices are as nauseating as there potato knish's. The restaurant was empty at 9 am, I can't imagine why. I came here for a meeting for a film and alls I got was a disgusting plate of eggs and potatoes.
Gut Distention. Wallet Thinned.. Decent food, but reminds of playing 3 card monte: I'll play but I know I'll lose 'cause I'm stupid...20 bux for a triple decker sandwich made me wince just reading it. I did like all of the pictures of sandwiches on the walls. Maybe if they go out of business I can by one for nostalgic purposes..."remember when I had that sandwich with three slices of bread?!?!? Oh man, those were the days."
This Valley neighborhood nosh spot serves up traditional Jewish-style comfort food..

Great Food. As far as delis in LA go, this one takes the cake. Or the pastrami. There is no other family-owned deli like this in town - well, certainly not in the Valley. One of the Ginsburg family members is always always on the premises. Places like this just don't exist anymore. It's on the pricy side - the one downfall.
Great deli stop at any time. If you're in the Studio City area, definitely stop in at Art's if you've got a craving for great deli food. If you're looking for a great pastrami sandwich, a bowl of split pea soup, or even just a nice piece of pie and ice cream, Art's is a good choice. Other delis in the area off some of the same menu items, but have very different atmospheres. Art's is comfortable, low key (can sometimes get busy), and the staff is always friendly and ready to serve you with a smile.
A little pricey but it's real deli food. Growing up in NY, it's easy to tell the California delis from the real thing. This is the real thing. Classic deli items (like lox and bagels, roast beef on rye, chicken in a pot) are excellent, the fancier LA twists on deli (like the salads and the non-traditional deli stuff) are less good. Art is often around himself as his daughter and the waitstaff all feels like they are there to mother you...which can be a good thing.
