The Scene – Katsu-ya is always packed with its loyal following, but it's unquestionably worth the wait. The good-looking Valley crowd doesn't even mind putting up with Hollywood types gossiping about scripts and head shots--as long as they still get to swoon over the amazing sushi. – – The Food – Besides doling out top-rate slivers of fish, Sushi Katsu-ya is also known for its inventive specials. 65. Hands down, it ranks as everyone's favorite sushi spot, and with good reason.

  18. Do yourself a favor and save yourself from a night of rude service and unfriendliness.

I would never go back to Katsu-Ya

by Zena DelVecchio

My husband and I took our son and wife to dinner to celebrate his birthday Saturday evening. We had a reservation at 5:30 p.m. We all arrived promptly. By the time we ordered our drinks and food, it was 5:55. We spent $264 including tip. Our check arrived and we paid it but were still talking and finishing our drinks. My tea was hot and I had 3/4 of a cup left. A waitress tapped my son on the back and said "we need the table". I looked around and there were other empty tables available. We were all stunned so we got up and left without addressing this matter with the manager. We were in the parking lot handing over the ticket to the valet (another $4.00) at 6:58 p.m. I have traveled to many countries around the world and have never had this happen to me.

Not Your Average Chain

by Kika Davis 2

If you only order one thing, please let it be the albacore with crispy onions. Between the seared tuna, crispy shallots and vinaigrette, you might just die and you would be completely OK with it. The tuna's sliced so beautifully that it simply melts in your mouth and leaves the faintest of tongue-teasing vinaigrette. Word to the wise: seating is on the limited side, so reservations are pretty much mandatory. But it’s worth it.
