In Short – Cafe Aroma offers a standard menu of coffee and baked goods to get the heart pumping and mouth watering. More noteworthy is the bookstore, with inventory hand-picked by the owner and her daughter. Choose from an excellent selection of quality fiction, non-fiction and children's books. With a large section devoted to spirituality and creativity, it's no wonder many Hollywood screenwriters consider this their second home.

Aroma and Portrait of a Bookstore have different owners
by cothow
Portrait of a Bookstore rents it's space from Aroma Cafe. So if a reviewer had a problem with being asked to leave a table that wouldn't have anything to do with the bookstore. I love this place. I can always find a gift for anyone and I love their birthday cards. One of the staff suggested this amazing book from a couple of years ago- We Need To Talk About Kevin- and I would never had found that book on my own. Indie's rock
- Pros: A really smart, nice staff and its filled with hidden gems
- Cons: parking is tough
Worst customer service of all time
by i8there
If you want to sit and relax with friends, especially on the weekends, AVOID this place--I was there with a friend and apparently we enjoyed ourselves for too long (a whopping hour and a half) because they rudely forced us to leave, threatening to call the police if we didn't. Talk about customer service. And, don't think about going to their sister cafe, the Alcove in Los Feliz either--they have the same policy. Apparently, for these two...all they care about is how many customers they can squeeze money out of. So, if you respect yourself and care about the types of establishment you spend your money in, avoid both places. There are much better, politer, places around.
- Cons: Rude service
