A Cigar Sanctuary. The Big Easy's movie style palace neon sign is a multi colored beacon, calling all who search for a causal and friendly place to purchase and enjoy one of life's glowing pleasures. Framed in day-glow yellow neon, the word "Sanctuary" appears in the front window of the hottest smoke shop and lounge to emerge in Los Angeles.

One step through the doors, past the anointed guitar wielding wooden Indian, and you realize you are about to experience Nirvana meeting Havana! Inside you're likely to find men and women enjoying fine cigars and camaraderie, far removed from the day to day worries of work and life.

Opened in 1994 The Big Easy is located on Ventura Blvd. in Studio City right at the Coldwater Curve. This is a bastion of sanctity for cigar lovers. Featuring an art deco lounge for aficionados of the leaf, along with a walk-in humidor including more than 90 different brands of cigars in over 400 shapes and sizes. As L.A.'s hottest destination for a casual smoke, visitors are surrounded by funky furnishings and bric-a-brac that dates from the 1920's to the 1950s. To age and humidify cigars, The Big Easy also has a separate storage facility with private lockers available for rent.

From Ashton to Zino, (not forgetting about Tatuaje?gotta support my boy Pete) the Big Easy carries a full line of over 90 brands of cigars in many shapes and sizes. If you are looking for the perfect gift for the cigar enthusiast, the Big Easy has it all. If you are searching for a S.T. DuPont lighter or a mini blow-torch lighter, you are certainly going to find them here. If your cigar aficionado has it all, its no problem, the Big Easy has cigar cases in every shape and size, as well as a large selection of ashtrays, flasks, and cigar themed apparel.

A laid-back atmosphere for the no-nonsense cigar afficionado!. Imagine enjoying a cigar with some of your best buddies in a basement straight out of the 50's or 60's. That's the vibe of The Big Easy and is also precisely why I visit 2-3 times a week. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, the TV is big, and the easy chairs are well-worn to perfection. The selection and prices are pretty reasonable for Ventura Blvd (right acros the street from Pinz, otherwise known as the most expensive bowling alley on the planet, but I digress), the parking's more than likely gonna be a metered space on Ventura so bring change if its before 6PM.
