comfortable new rooms, very helpful friendly staff, big name hotel, nice shop, nice country, nice restaurant, nice accommodations
WOW Can't believe this hotel was built in 1962. Love the new rooms been coming to this hotel for years and glad to see the new look in the rooms. The friendly staff was very helpful thoughout my families stay love the family feel the Patio Cafe has and the heated pool well you got to see it to believe it has to be the largest pool in the valley if not the city.
Love that family feeling and Large Pool. Love that family feeling the staff gave me and the fact I didn't have a bunch of people with suits all over the place. Diffently not a Marriott or other big name hotel this place caters to the every day family who want to just relax and have a place where the kids can run free. The olympic size heated pool was just unbelievable can't wait to get back there.
Love the new Rooms!!!. This hotel is a real land mark. My parents use to have their xmas parties here and I have stayed here a few times over the years and the hotel always had great service and a beautiful pool. The hotel is near all the great attraction LA has to offer and to my suprise the hotel just completed a entire rooms renovation nothing was missed everything was new. The rooms were great loved thed pool view as always. Will be back atleast one more time this summer.
Love the Country Feeling. Nice country feeling in the big city. Love the Pool and wonderful history of this landmark hotel. Beautful old fashion lobby and olympic size pool and comfortable rooms, the large selection of magazines where great.
Best Deal in town. Had a wonderful stay. I couldn't keep the kids out of the olympic size pool and the food in the Patio Resturant was excellent with over sized portions.
A comfy urban hotel designed to inspire visions of a forest retreat..
The Scene
With its rustic, hunting lodge theme, this hotel opened in 1962 next door to the unrelated Sportsmen's Lodge Restaurant on a pair of manmade lakes stocked with trout and graced with ducks and swans. Motion pictures and TV shows are occasionally shot here, and recording stars and their entire road crews regularly stay. Though this hotel isn't nearly as fun as it once was, it's still a peaceful place with lots of character.
The Details
When celebrities such as Clark Gable frequented this quaint setting, rates were $9 for a single room and all of $25 for a suite. Today, the hotel has been renovated, a process that robbed it of some of its goofy charm. Nevertheless, spacious rooms overlook an Olympic-size heated pool in the courtyard, as well as the very old-fashioned Patio Cafe and neighboring Caribou restaurant and Muddy Moose Bar. Courtesy shuttle service to Burbank Airport and Universal Studios is available, as are discount tickets for the Universal Studios Tour.
