Great Bakery, but closed – I used to love this place, and would stop on my way to work when I could, but unfortunately they are CLOSED! :(
Bad design and service!! – I ordered a three cube cake with a Hello Kitty theme from Bee's Knees for a surprise baby shower that I was hosting. The shower was scheduled for Sunday, but on Saturday afternoon they came to deliver the cake! I had no room in my fridge and the mother to be was staying at my house! I called the bakery and spoke to Nichole. She was very unfriendly. She told me that they do not open on Sunday and if we want the cake we would need to go at 3pm to pick it up (I already paid a $20 delivery fee.) On Sunday my husband went and picked-up the cake. The 3 cakes were green, purple and red with wilting flowers. The Hello Kitty that was drawn with butter cream looked as if a kindergartener did it. It was horrible. Considering that they do "high end cakes" it was a bad art design. I paid $200 for the cake and was disappointed in the design and service. The taste was okay. Do not recommend them at all!!
Tremendous-perhaps the best cake shop in L.A. – Purchased my wedding cake there and it was the perfect balance of beauty and flavor. (If you are a marzipan fan, the princess is a must!) There are a million shops that create pretty (and ordinary cakes) but this shop goes way beyond the norm. It just so happens that I was there for my tasting on Halloween and there was a line of people picking up custom themed cakes for parties-FANTASTIC! You bring your picture and they will build it. That is unheard of. Even if you don't have a special occation to buy one, I would recommend going by just for a slice. It is heavenly.
What the hell happened? – I went into the bakery and pointed out a picture of the cake I wanted to the women working. It was suppose to be a deep brown 1/2 sheet cake with deep purple flowers on it.
It came out white with purple and white wilting flowers on top. My question is what the hell happened?
VERY DISAPPOINTING for my engagement party.
Great Wedding Cakes – We ordered our wedding cake from here and were beyond pleased. They gave us nice sized sample cakes to help us choose a cake. A decorator sat down with us to plan the design of the cake and they even incorporated fresh flowers and grapes and the pattern from my wedding dress. I still stop by for the yummy cookies periodically and their staff is always cheerful and helpful.
Would I order another cake from them? Well... for a wedding or other especially special event: yes. For a birthday, cheaper options always lure me away.
