Community Icon and Restaurant. Golan is a long-standing centerpiece of the Jewish community. The restaurant itself is a lot like a big, friendly family room. You can expect to see people you know there, especially people from the Jewish community that you haven't seen in ages, people visiting from out of town, people you miss . . . you get the idea. The service is excellent, but you can expect your meal to take longer than it would in a fast-food establishment, since your order is prepared when placed.

Did I mention that the food is extraordinarily delicious?

A previous poster implied that Golan has an identity crisis -- Israeli? NY Deli? Chinese? In reality, Golan knows exactly what it is, and exactly who its customers are: families that are having breakfast out; families visiting other families from out of town who just want something yummy and familiar; people who want Chinese food that's kosher as a special treat.

That's not an identity crisis -- it's a wonderful slice of the Jewish community in the San Fernando Valley.

And that is why we love Golan!

Great Appetizers. This is a family owned restaurant... The chef is an amazing dedicated Moroccan woman who comes in every morning to prepare fresh and fabulous moroccan cuisine... There is also great Chinese food and Deli sandwiches.... If you want a good place to go for a hearty breakfast, The french toast is out of this world, or Hash browns with shakshuka, and a nice hot cup of fresh coffee. This place is a definite must try... Don't forget to send your compliments to the chef, Jacqueline

Middle Eastern, Deli and Chinese Food?. When we walked in all I could think is this place should be on an episode of Kitchen Nightmares.

The staff out numbered the customers 3-1. We were the only customers there (we were there late afternoon) and yet there was 9-10 people working. It is obviously a family owned restaurant, and they were a bit cliquish. Our waitress was very polite but other employees were rude and cold and made us feel very out of place and uncomfortable.

The menu looks like an essay, its about 8-10 pages stapled together ranging from middle eastern food, deli style sandwiches and Chinese food. Not only is the menu big but it is confusing to read and prices are not clearly marked.

I must admit the food was good, but not worth the money! $11.95 for Mongolian beef, fried rice and an egg roll, $10.95 for sweet and sour chicken, rice and an egg roll. $7 for a kids plate of spaghetti.
