much fun people watching, not extremely nice staff, favorite spots, full stomach
Worth a Try. I heard this place was off the chain but to me nothing compares to Chef Marilyn's. However, if you have a taste for soul food, M&M can satisfy that craving.
Editorial Review. Local family-friendly chain serves affordable, home-style soul food like meatloaf, smothered chicken, liver and onions, plus burgers, sandwiches and traditional desserts.
Best comfort food outside the South. I was studying for finals and babysitting my siblings, so I took us all to M&Ms. What can I say? I study better on a full stomach! There's a bowling alley and family fun center right next door, so I sent the kids to play and ordered the smothered turkey leg dinner. Now, I spent 4 years of my life packing on pounds in Atlanta, so I expected nothing less than a hearty meal. I was not disappointed at all. There was more than enough gravy on the tukey legs, which were almost bigger than my own legs (ha ha ha), and I had to pack up my collard greens, macaroni and cheese and black eyed peas to eat at home. The peach cobbler, my personal favorite when my Mom Mom makes it, was heavenly. I haven't braved the banana pudding yet, my step-mother is the only person I trust to make that, but I plan to venture there on my next visit.
Soul Food Equals Great Comfort Food.
My daughter and I ordered the meatloaf, just one order that we planned on sharing. Little did we know that one order of meatloaf could feed a family of four! It comes to you as two giant slabs of meat with your three selected sides and cornbread. We took the leftover meatloaf, greens, cornbread, yams, and rice & gravy home and feasted on them later that night AND for lunch the next day. It was pricier than we originally thought (around $11.95 for the meatloaf dinner), but since it was the equivalent of two dinners, it was worth it. And did I forget to mention that it was some of the greatest comfort food I've ever tasted?!!
UPDATE: We ordered takeout again a couple months later and instead of an order of peach cobbler, we were given a second order of macaroni and cheese. I called from home to tell the cashier that he'd given me another order of mac and cheese instead of the cobbler and he said he'd give me the cobbler upon return. What he should have done is promised me a free meal for my inconvenience (having to listen to my wife complain ad nauseam about why I didn't check the bag before leaving the restaurant).
