Mexican fast-food chain serves up authentic citrus-marinated chicken and a variety of burritos and pollo bowls..
In Short
This restaurant's first roadside chicken stand opened up in Guasave, Mexico in 1975. A family-inspired recipe of chicken marinated in herbs, spices and citrus juices was an overnight success and the Mexican chain opened its first American location in Los Angeles in 1980. Ever since, customers have been devouring the house specialty--zesty flame-grilled chicken served with tortillas and fresh salsa. Other menu options include pollo bowls (rice and chicken), salads and quesadillas.

El Pollo Yummo.
"Okay, truth be told me heart will always be with the El Pollo on La Cienega and 18th. If *if* the night of the infamous "chicken weigh-in" the guy behind the counter was disloyal to lil ole me. Long story. Anyway, El Pollo Loco RULES. Also the one at Highland and Wilshire's good, too. Get your chicken on the bone, unless you're getting tacos al carbon, which are good, even if the diced chicken in it is a little smokey. I don't know, what else can I say? El Pollo is one of only two major fast food places I'll eat at (also In n' Out Burger). 5 stars for conveniece, choice/menu, cleanliness, and general awesomeness."
