very good food, really like place, good experiences, likes green bean chicken, favorite sushi spot, favorite chinese restaurant, likes mongolian chicken
BEST Wonton Soup in town.
I've tried many Chinese places for takeout around the Van Nuys area and keep coming back to 88 Chinese.
They really do have the best wonton soup out of everyone. It's full of chicken, pork, cabbage, snow peas, carrots, mushrooms, shrimp, and of course wontons. No one else packs so much into a soup.
I also really enjoy the cashew chicken. The only upsetting part is that I like pork lo-mein but they only use bbq pork instead of roast pork. As an native East Coaster, I am used to roast pork in the dishes and prefer that.
The interior of the place is not much to look at, but take out is not disappointing.
Japanese + Chinese - Neither Work. Checked out this restaurant thanks to Restaurant . com but I really wish I hadn't. Yes, they make Chinese and Japanese food which allows for variety, however they do neither right. I say pass over this place and either go to your favorite sushi spot or Chinese restaurant; please keep the two of them separate.
YUM. great food. Owner is nice and delivery service is the best. sushi is good fresh and do special requests! Love the place!
Long Live Orange Chicken - Yes I know it's fake chinese.
Ok here's the deal - we used to live on Burbank right around the corner from this place; and honestly we ordered so much that the guy knows our voices and our order! Since we move which has been some time ago I still go over there and pick up dinner at least twice a month.
The keepers on this menu are the white meat orange chicken, the cream cheese wontons, and the war wonton soup - the hubby likes mongolian chicken and the green bean chicken. Even though I moved out of their traditional delivery area they are willing to come the extra mile and deliver my stuff if I order over $50 in food - that's what I call customer service.
Tips - the owner is normally the one taking orders @ nights and on the weekends, and don't be afraid to ask for things that aren't on the menu, or ask for alterations to your order; they are always happy to accommodate if the can! I have to say that I have never ordered the sushi here just because I don't want to tarnish my thoughts of my good experiences there - I'm always afraid to try sushi outside my comfort zone.
Entrees are large, food is always fresh and hot - and they'll work with you on substitutions.
Good Chinese Food. So we live around the corner, and I find myself ordering almost once a week from this place. The delivery is quick. Always quicker than they say, and the food is always steaming hot when it arrives. Being american, I like how the orange chicken is white meat only. And they can make anything that is supposed to be spicy, without the spice. I really like this place. It is my perfect alternative to not wanting to cook.
Chinese and Sushi combo-spot welcomes diet-conscious with healthy menu alternatives..
In Short
Bamboo wall accents contrasted against dark wood tables lend an airy feel to this bright space. Patrons watch sports on one of the flat-screen TVs, or pick up a section of a local paper tucked away on a shelf near the entrance. The multi-faceted menu helps parties with different cravings and diet regimens agree on the same place. Served with steamed white or brown rice, there are sushi rolls and cooked dishes like Pork Egg Foo Young, a Chinese omelet.
