Tips for T.G.I. Friday's

October 06, 2008

Every night is the weekend at this bistro, where families enjoy American kitsch and cuisine alongside partying singles.. In Short
The much-copied look of hardwood floors, decorative stained glass, checked tablecloths, brass rails and walls filled with knickknacks has been a staple at this restaurant franchise. Originally a hit for its frisky bar scene, Friday's is now known just as much for its kid-friendly entrees. The menu alternates between typical American fare (salads, potato skins, Angus burgers and grilled chicken) and modestly international cuisine like fajitas, wraps and pot stickers.

Take your business somewhere else!. I recently decided to throw my boss a birthday cocktail hour at TGIF's.

The hostess there was very attentive. She walked us over to the bar area and we were so impressed with her attitude, that of course we expected great things to follow. Unfortunately that's not what happened. The bartenders were probably the SLOWEST, and RUDEST bartenders I've ever met. We were never acknowledged even though we had about 3 tables there and once we managed to get their attention the service was unbelievably bad. After asking several times we managed to get a waitress out to us which made things better until she brought out the wrong plate of appetizers for another table and then turned around and tried to sell it to us!

Needless to say I was embarrassed because I had planned the outing. I'm sure that will be the last company event held there!

It's WHO you know that counts here!. Under the watchful eyes of the security guard, my party (of three) waited patiently in line for the TGIF's hostess to call our name. Other patrons start arriving and likewise stood in line behind us. However, instead of the TGIFs hostess calling the names on the list and allowing those who were already in line to be called first as is customary, she instead opted to pick and choose patrons at will.

My party ended up leaving TGIF after waiting in line for over 30 minutes. Anyway, the quality and value of the food and particular the service at TGIF (located on LaTijera & Centinela) is NOT worth the wait or trouble.

Really bad. The only things we avoid more than patronizing your typical chain restaurant is eating lint or associating with Republicans. However, after eating here with a few picky, out of town guests, eating lint doesn't seem all that bad.

Our recent experience here was just horrific, from the interminable wait (on a Wednesday night!), to the attitude-ridden service, to the downright bad food. The oversized cocktails looked nice, but were mostly ice and very weak, not to mention expensive. The food also disappointed. Rich's hamburger's bun was stale, and the cold, almost-raw fries didn't help. Chris' entree included icky-looking fried shrimp and a chicken breast compeletly bereft of flavor. Our dinner companions didn't complain much, but they were probably just being polite. We definitely do not recommend this place, and wonder why they seem to be perpetually busy.

EXCELLENT FAMILY & SPORTS PATRONS. THIS PLACE IS EXCELLENT FOR FAMILY DINING. THE BAR IS SEPARATE AND DURING EVENINGS SECURITY CHECK FOR ID'S. THE PATIO FOR SMOKING GIVES VIEW OF PARKING AND THE ADJACENT STARBUCKS. THE DRINKS ARE LARGE FRUITY AND TASTY. LOTS OF TELEVISIONS WITH ALL SORTS OF SPORTS WITH A LITE MUSIC BACKGROUND. EMPLOYEES ARE VERY PERSONAL AND GLADLY GO ALL OUT TO SATISFY PATRONS WHEN ASKED. PRICES ARE AVERAGE FOR THE AMBIENCE PROVIDED. EASY ACCESS TO THE FREEWAY

TGI Friday's ... I don't think so. The service is always bad, the drinks are watered down, and the food is not that good. People go to hang out and pick up people. It should stay open past midnight. For Magic Johnson to be affiliated with such an establishment, he needs to do a MUCH better job than that. The service is HORRIFIC!!!!

TGIF!!. I love Friday's, and this one is no exception!

At the heart of inner city, it's a great place for youngins to go and have an after work beer.

I had a wonderful time.

Wretched Service. I'm sad to see that Magic Johnson's name is associated with such a place. I'd heard that the service was bad, long waits, to be seated, to order, for your food, for a drink, etc. It's not that it's that crowded, it's just that the service is that bad! I've given it a try, more than once, even three times, and still no change or variance.

Please remove this place from your top spots list.
