I believe that Citysearch promotes unrestrained slander of companies who cannot even address the accusation. At least other well known business rating systems send the complaint to the business with a chance to address it, as does the Attorney General. I personally, as the owner of a company have experienced loss of revenues from an accusation that was rooted purely in a customer's not wanting to pay a legitimate bill and slamming us for daring to call them to responsibility. The very least Citysearch should do is to provide a space for the business to clarify with its side of the story. The other danger is that a business could have a horribly negative and fabricated complaint posted against it for months and not even be aware of the fact. Under the current set-up, as a business, I feel powerless. In my case, there is one lone horribly negative and false review that pops up when people look for our services in our area. Out of thousands of transactions, we have one terrible review, and since there are no others, it maligns the reputation we have built for years. Someone needs to call Citysearch to account. I would urge other businesses who have encountered the same difficulty to write the attornies general of their home state and the state of California to make their grievance publicly known. Perhaps there are those who are in a position to air the grievance on radio or TV shows in order to bring it before the general public. Perhaps if businesses would litigate for several years of advertizing revenues this nonsense would stop. ***Subsequent note*** It is interesting to note that since posting this review, Citysearch has posted two of it's own reviews in order to displace this negative review (Push it down a couple spots) They don't like this type of review in the first position any more than I do, but they're able to shove it down while I am not. Look at the above two reviews, and decide for yoursel if they are just space takers.

Pros: Shows businesses in the area

Cons: Comments from reviewers with no accountability cannot possibly give an accurate rendering of the business

This site is getting outdated, often containing incorrect info and phone numbers, it's just a fancier version of the yellow pages. I can't even delete my old reviews probably because they're scared to lose the few reviews they have acquired. Even though most reviews are fake and business owners are just defending their poor performance to their customers. PATHETIC! I finally got in contact with someone and apparently you can't delete your old reviews and you can't delete your own account. Do I have to violate the content in all my reviews to have it removed? SERIOUSLY ANNOYING!!!!!! If citysearch wants to make some improvements, they need to hire some moderators so the content is managed because it's obvious it's not. Oh yeah this website is also annoying, bombarded with ads it slows down my whole computer! The customer service was very unhelpful they absolutely REFUSED to delete my account. What kind of customer service is that? Why can't I freaking get my account deleted, what is so freaking hard about it? Why NOT? I regret ever signing up for this pathetic excuse for a website!
