What People Are Saying About Tuk Tuk Thai Restaurant

Featured Review

Randi Schmelzer

Contributor

In Short – Owned by the folks behind Silver Lake's popular Rambutan, this small, square restaurant serves similar fare to Thai-craving Westsiders. Closely spaced, warm-wood tables fill the well-lit, yellow dining room, its walls accented with cobalt blue sconces. A substantial, veggie-heavy menu includes standbys like chicken satay and pad thai. More unusual dishes such as papaya salad, wok bowls and green-curry dumplings are also featured. The house specialty dessert is coconut sticky rice with fresh mango.

Editor's Tips

Save Money:
Weekday lunch specials include an entree, rice and salad, egg drop-mushroom soup or a spring roll for under $10.
Where to Sit:
Indoor tables are intimately arranged, but they are candlelit and the chairs are comfortable. The sidewalk seats are better suited for waiting carryout customers than actual diners.
Parking:
Don't park in the dry cleaners' lot in the back--they tow. Instead, opt for a street meter or side-street space.

  3. Good Eats, parking hard, really attentive, Southern girl addicted to Thai now.
  4. Love the decor, food presentation and service.
  5. love the decor, the service and mostly the Pad Thai.
  6. The quaint atmosphere and the uncommonly friendly floor staff, make lunch a great experience aside from the food, which is the reason to come to tuk tuk in the first place.

  8. nice atmosphere and staff, no doubt about that.
  9. Pinks and oranges mixed with bamboo accents, dark wood booths and a cherry wood floor are inviting and comfortable.

  15. Very good ambience with tiny thai autorikshaw models and pictures on the walls.
  16. It has decent Thai food if you know what to order (I'd stay away from Pad Thai, but go with any of the beef plates or the combo), but most importantly the atmosphere is very cozy and romantic in a modern way.
  17. still love the space at Thai House, but the decor at tuk tuk is cute, yellow slanted walls and a curved blue ceiling.
  18. Good food, nice decor, neighborhood find

The waitress tried to charge us 2 taxes on our bill. We thought one was a tip and so we tip her another $5.00. She ran out of the restuarant and asked us what was wrong with the service. Unbelievably RUDE. Food was that good.. Will never go back

Worst service ever. How does this place continue to operate?

by Davyjc

Worst service ever

I used to go years ago and I just returned from this place. Sunday night, hardly anyone in the place. 8pm and the waitress never came over until we complained twenty minutes later. No attention. Dirty cups and zero concern about anything. The wait staff acting like they were avoiding the customers instead of engaging. The food was ok but I'll only order take out. And maybe I won't do that because this place needs a wake up call. They had the nerve to put a suggestion for the tip. Please! Worst service ever. Never going back. Davyjc
