A local favorite for sandwiches, sides and their humongous cupcakes. This is the perfect place to stop before heading down to the beach. On weekends it is pretty packed.

MEH!. I was curious about this place after reading all the bad reviews and well lets just say the owners and management are rude and dont really care. The food is ok, I mean its not the most difficult cuisine in the food industry to master, but all in all I feel I wasted my time...

Celebrity watching and Celebrity owners. First of all you need to discount ALL the negative reviews regarding service. in the 10 years the Kitchen had been in business I have never witnessed any if these episodes of rude or disrespectful service. most of these people are on their cell phones when ordering and treat waitress's like servants there spoiled entitled Malibu snobs. Regardless, none of these reviewers can complain about the food which is fresh and delicious. it's down-home comfort food. the place is frequented by celebrities and is Seinfeld's favorite place. Insiders secret; the owners/investors are a who's who of the biggest celebrities in Malibu.

Malibu Kitchen is superb. Best place for lunch in Malibu by far. So good!! The Turkey Brie and Cranberry is all world and the Classic Meatloaf is amazing.

The service is good too. On Christmas Eve the owner came out and personally helped me put together a gift basket. It took an hour and he was smiling the whole time.

I must point out that there are some really beautiful folks working in there too. Smiles all around and gosh some of those girls are stunning.

No class. I have to agree that the food is good. Though overpriced and beware of the varying prices from day to day. Can't trust what is listed on the board. I have lived in Malibu for 20 years and will go there in a pinch if I need a quick dinner solution.

The owners are so incredibly rude. They remind me of the soup nazi on Seinfeld. He is an arrogant, pompous, no class bastard. She is a mean ice queen. I have seen her reprimand the poor kids that work there right in front of customers. Have some class. The owner had the audacity to call a kid a "dumb f*&%$# " for asking him if he was open one night as I walked by. After this particular incident, I will NEVER shop here again. Even if it means picking up McDonalds in a pinch.

DISGUSTING. I have lived in Malibu for 20 years. I hate this place with a passion. Horribly rude service, unsanitary (there was a hair in my eggs), and just an all-around awful vibe. Support the local business by going to Johns Garden instead. I seriously HATE this place.

fantastic food that gets a bad rap. I just had to get on here and write a review of the Malibu Kitchen because it gets a bad rap on CitySearch. It has great food (some of the best in Malibu), and the atmosphere is absolutely incredible. The pulled pork sandwich, split pea soup, all the fresh salads, and the cookies are just a few of the great things I've sampled there. The atmosphere is homey and comfortable.

The service... is what it is. If you go into the Malibu Kitchen, just go in with a very straightforward, no "beating around the bush" attitude. If you don't like it, you don't have to come back, but honestly, you may be a little too "Malibu" to really understand the charm of the place... and that's a damn shame.

Horrible Service. The person behind the counter that served me was one of the biggest a holes I have ever met in my life. Afterwards, I asked someone eles who worked there and was told he was the owner and people often complain about the treatment they recieve. No need to get into the specifics, but all the comments about how rude he is are absolutely true. Obviously I will never eat there again. I agree, I hope they go out of business. Please save yourself the burdon of such a negative place, there are plenty of places nearby with great food that will be happy for your patronage.

Save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else. I went in to this restaurant today for the first time. I work in Malibu and often eat lunch in other restaurants in the area. First of all, they don't carry pastrami, which is disturbing to find in a sandwich place. I ordered the turkey and the price on slip that they gave me wasn't the price listed on the board. I brought this up with the guy making sandwiches and he said that the sign was for decoration only. I told him that they are required to give me the price listed. He brought in the manager who refused to give me the posted price and told me I should go to Ralph's and get a *EXPLETIVE* sandwich.

Worst Service EVER!. I live in Malibu and frequent many of the businesses in the Country Mart. These people are by far the worst. I have ordered the same sandwich 3 times and each time it was different. Their portions and quality are not consistent. I ordered a sandwich that was completely different from the fist time I ordered it and the guy behind the counter refused to change it or fix it. I hope they go out of business.

Malibu Kitchen--Rudeness du Jour. They keep people waiting forever with no apology. The manager is disrespectful and arrogant, totally lacking in people skills. How do people like this stay in business? No food is worth this kind of treatment. Avoid this place! John's Garden is better and they are efficient and friendly.
