awesome student place – awesome food every time, love the green tea boba! also i feel so comfortable studying here! but it gets pricey, like everything else in LA, only downside is how busy it gets when finals are around, but worth the wait for a table to me
Don't support these cheats – I strongly urge every reader of this review to not attend this place. The atmosphere is okay, the food is average, but more than that, it is the character of the ownership that gives this place a thumbs down.
A friend of mine that works at this place had 30 dollars taken directly out of her pay because of a differential in the dollars at the end of the day. Despite no direct evidence that she had taken the money (and im sure she had not, she is one of the most honest, generous people i know), the owner docked 30 dollars simply due to his bitterness that a different employee had taken 100 dollars the day before.
It's certainly not moral, and I'm not even sure if thats legal, considering they had an agreement on the amount of pay beforehand. She is still keeping the job, simply because she needs money to buy her friends christmas presents. Don't support this place. If you don't believe me, email me or something.
busy little study spot – This is like the Westwood study/boba spot... They also have dishes like spicy ricecakes, ramen, and huge spicy tuna rolls for pretty cheap. Though the cafe closes later, the kitchen closes at 9:30pm (we've been disappointed far too many times when we'd go there late, thinking that there will be food). The upstairs area gets kind of hot and stuffy, but it's not too bad if you turn on the fans. Also if you can only study in extremely quiet spaces, I wouldn't recommended this place because it can get a little noisy...
Great place to snack and study – Iso is a cute place in Westwood to meet up with a friend or study. They have a good selection of sushi and rolls, as well as other things like soups and spicy ramen, and a TON of drinks - milk teas, bobas, coffees, etc. (with free refills!) I ordered california rolls while I was there studying, and got 8 big rolls plus miso soup - not bad. It's not exactly a romantic restaurant, but the prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is comfortable.
Worth a return visit – The beef teriyaki bowl was generous and flavorful, with lots of spices melding into a wonderful meal. And the tea--get a cup of the hot jasmine tea. It's aromatic and delicious.
