Editorial Review for Petrossian – by Martha Burr
The Scene
This clean, somewhat austere Beverly Hills cafe and gourmet shop is the sister store of New York and Paris landmarks that date back to the '20s. In addition to a delectable selection of specialty foods, the most celebrated being caviar, the cafe offers a light breakfast and lunch menu.
The Goods
Top-of-the-line Tsar Imperial Beluga caviar will cost you slightly more than a $100 for 30 grams (a bit more than an ounce). Slightly more economical, but no less delicious are osetra and sevruga varieties (also from sturgeon). Other delicacies to be found on Petrossian shelves include salmon roe, an elegant selection of foie gras with truffles, and top-quality smoked salmon, sturgeon, trout and eel. Imported French chocolates come beautifully boxed, and true Francophiles will swoon over glaces (candied chestnuts).
