great service, big portions, delicious italian food, here hard food, deep fried calamari, very comfortable atmosphere, nice waiter
Dining Experience. Had gone to Maggiano's at the Grove in Hollywood in the past. It was a wonderful experience with excellent food and service. This Maggiano's in Woodland Hills was a disconcerting experience. The waitress kept on intruding. With the salad dressing she would say: :Mypersonal favorit dressing is"- with the sald she would say: MY personal favorite is the chopped salad: This continued on to the main course when she again injected "MY personal favorite is". Her suggested with neither solicited nor welcomed. The sauce on my pasta did not have the fresh taste as I had at Maggianos at the Grove. Everything waas mediocre. -I would never go there again!
Forget catering....
Never again! I ordered a delivery of food for a party I was having. I initially placed the order with a young man, and was very specific about when I wanted the food delivered...at 6:30, no earlier, as I wanted my guests to have all arrived before the food arrived (I did not want the food overcooked/dried out by the time we ate.).
Well, just as most people don't want guests arriving early, I was really disturbed when the food/caterer woman - not the young man I spoke to - delivered the food at 5:45, much earlier than I wanted. When I complained, she muttered, "Well this is better to have it set up before your guests arrive." What? That made me angrier, as I knew what I wanted, and why... Needless to say, when my guests ate at 7:00, as planned, the food had been sitting on the burners over an hour, and every dish was dry, tough, or just plain overcooked. I was so embarrassed, angry, and disappointed, not to mention the waste of my $275.00. + bill.
Wow. This place is so overrated!! I had heard from all my friends how great it was so I decided to try it out. I was really disappointed. The food was overpriced, there was barely any of it, and the meatlballs here hard, and the sandwich bread was dried out! I would not reccomend this place to anyone!! The only pro was a nice waiter
Delicious Italian food in an upscale setting. I've eaten here 3 times and enjoyed it. I like how the servers are very knowledgeable about the food. They know exactly what's in it, how it's made, and what it's served with. They ask questions and make suggestions which I really appreciate. Most recently I had the chopped salad and it was the best salad I've eaten in about 5 years. Everything was very crisp, the amount of dressing was just right, and it was presented beautifully on a chilled plate. We also ordered the whole wheat pasta (penne) with pesto sauce and chicken. The flavor was fine, I just prefer my pesto sauce thicker. They have wonderful bread and a great marinara sauce too. The atmosphere is upscale but still family and kid friendly. I will definitely eat here again.
Attentive service for lunch.
My spouse and I had a fabulous lunch here. Great food quality, server really knew a lot about the preparation and ingredients of the lunch specials and we had a good time. We had calamari, a chopped salad and a breaded shrimp dish - all were great.
The restaurant was not crowded (thank the economy for that) so of course you'd expect good, quick service - but it was so good that we'll definitely be back. Now, if they would just have more "lunch special" kind of meal offerings, it would help us afford to go more frequently.
don't miss the beef medallions with portabella mushrooms.
My husband and I can't resist the beef medallions or the four chees ravioli (have it as the appetizer).
Great service but it can get busy and you may have to wait if you can't score a seat in the bar.
Family-friendly restaurant serves up enormous portions of southern Italian favorites in a nostalgic setting..
In Short
Family-style portions and red-checkered tablecloths create a casual, congenial vibe, drawing families and large groups to this feast of Italian-American nostalgia set to a Sinatra soundtrack. The made-from-scratch menu is brimming with traditional dishes, from starters like fried calamari, Parmesan garlic bread and Tuscan-style mussels to spaghetti with meatballs and manicotti with chicken and spinach. For those with room to spare, a piece of sweet tiramisu and a strong cappuccino help finish the meal.
decent italian food in generous portions. the place is rather large, and so are the portions. i'd recommend the rigatoni D and the garlic shrimp with shells. that in itself is enough food for 4 people. the calamari isn't bad, but a little too deep fried. the steaks are awful, don't listen to what they try to tell you, this isn't a steak house, nor is it steak-house-quality meat. the best part of the place is the fact that they have private rooms which you can rent out for small dinner parties.
Great Food! You Can't Go Wrong!. We went to Maggiano's with high expectations and were very satisifed with every aspect of our dinner. The portions were huge and the food was nothing short of fantasic--I had the Chicken Saltimboca and my wife had the Cannelloni. The appetizer platter is a must so you can try all of the wonderful appetizers. The service was great and our server was very helpful in choosing dishes. The only downside is the noise and the crowds. Definately the best place for Italian in the Valley.
Nothing to write home about. Maggiano's serves big portions of Italian food, but it's not very authentic. It's Americanized Italian food. There is nothing very special about the food except that the portions are big and it's very heavy, so don't overeat or you'll be sorry! The heavy cream and sauces will sit in your stomach all night. Service was mediocre, but perhaps it was because it was quite full even on a week night. I would not go back and would not recommend it to my friends.
