A perfect ending, or middle...

The Santa Fe Damn recreational area is a nice ending to a great bike ride. Start on North Azusa Road, by the entrance to the San Gabriel Mountains and hop onto the San Gabriel River trail. The trail will take you straight into Santa Fe Damn. If youre up for a challenge, the same trail will take you all the way down to Seal Beach. To park and get in, it costs $6, but if you ride in, its free. Pack a picnic lunch, and enjoy. If you drive in, pack the meat and bbq for the day. One word of caution, it will get crowded. So start early and plant yourself around a tree. If you only sit in the shade, the shade will move, and others will take it from you. If youre smart and follow the shade, and clearly mark your area, there will be no hassle.

Fun close to home

I live a bike ride away from this great place. Very family oriented. Great fishing when the stock with trout, and catfish. Paddle boats and consession stands, and local ice cream man. Use the grills or bring your own. Nice nature trails, bike path. The beach is open in late May, and is very crowded on the weekends. Bring the dogs, but have a leash and pick up! $6 to park.
