wonderful service, great food, great place, wonderful exciting entertainment, great large portions, great atmosphere, great bar
Finally a place closer to home. Nick's Taste of Texas' new location in the heart of downtown Covina is awesome! This Tex-Mex eatery offers wonderful service, great food, and exciting entertainment monthly. Finally a place tp call home on the weekends without having to travel to LA for nightlife...live bands and dancing and a great bar makes this place #1 with us!
Oh the Sweet Taste of Texas. What can I say, this place scores a perfect 10 from me. My whole family is from Texas and this place has definately caught the very essence of the state. GREAT BBQ, Tacos etc. Large portions, Cheap beer, Cheap prices, great atmosphere, and friendly service. Oh, and I've saved the best for last...the home made tortillas. They're so good, my family will travel from the duarte/monrovia area, just for the tortillas. Fresh and tasty, both the corn and flour tortillas are worth the trip. Ah, home sweet home.
Regular Customer. I have been to different BBQ around LA,San Bernardino and Riverside county and I compare everyone of them to Taste of Texas. I would recommend the Brisket and homemade tortillas.
Texas Style is the way to go.
A hole in the wall, the Taste of Texas is just the kind of place you'd expect to see near the Alamo.
Upon entering this establishment you'd think it nothing to write home about, but once you see home made tortillas being made right in front of your eyes, then you start to realize that this is home! Everything tastes homemade, right down to the sauces (which, by the way, are stored in non labelled serving jugs on a table in the middle of the resturant).
They have a very nice breakfast selection and the lunch and dinner choices are too numerous to list. Being from the Azuza area, I've frequented Taste of Texas many times and have even been asked to pass by and pick up a dozen of tortillas on the way home from work on occasion.
Definately worth checking out!
Great Tex-Mex Barbeque.
Great food, large portions.
Spicy barbeque sauce, sides of beans, rice, and tortillas make this a local favorite. The pork ribs are lean and meaty. The quality of the food is evidenced by the crowds that are always present.
Great Food!. It's a great place especially for us lost Texans. The barbecue is exactly what I remember back home in Texas, delicious! Our family celebrates all our special occasions there and we are looking forward to going to their new place in Covina.
Best and only place to get barbacoa. If you haven't tried barbacoa as a meal on a Sunday morning after church, you are missing out on one of life's delights.. just don't ask what its made of.
That's right, you're not from Texas. This place is so authentically Texas, the last time I was in there I met Flaco Jimenez. He's friends with the owner I believe ... there's a taco plate named after him. Definitely a great place for a little Lone Star nostalgia, a plate of migas or some tender brisket. And you know you're not in California anymore when you only pay $5 for a pitcher of beer.
Brisket Tacos!.
I've lived in both CA and TX and have never discoverd brisket tacos before. I'd eat this every day if I could. I'd highly recommend them.
Don't know what's up with their salsa, though. Tastes good, but has a really strong acidic quality. Sort of tastes carbonated or something. They close too early, also. Cool place, though.
