The Short Stop Heats Up on Thursday Nights. Last week I went to the Short Stop for the first time and was stoked and surprised to discover good music and a hopping dance floor on a Thursday night. Sick and tired of hearing all that nauseating club music from top 40 radio stations, it was good to hear music aficionados playing rare groove joints and hip-hop that they actually cared about. On top of that, people actually dance here, but it's a mellow vibe. Love the affordable drinks and the divey Echo Park vibe feels very authentic. I'll be going there with all my girlfriends every Thursday to pay homage to DJ O-Dub and Murphy's Law!

Pre-Dodger game spot. Experienced the Short Stop for the first time this week. Excellent spot to have an adult beverage prior to a Dodger game. The bar had $2 draft specials and the tamales they were selling were outstanding. Pool tables in the back room add some variety. 90% of the crowd seemed to be going to the game. Nice spot.

Rude!. Do not go there and give that place any business! I was there this past Saturday and had a HORRIBLE experience. We were there early at 9pm, before the huge crowd had arrived. The bar was EMPTY. The bartender was SO rude and totally unprovoked. HER LACK OF BASIC MANNERS WAS TRULY SHOCKING. She made us feel really awkward, which is not what you want to feel when you are out trying to have fun and spend your hard earned money. I could understand if the bar was packed, a bartender may be rushed and seem rude, but there was no one there! She turned us off so much that we left. With so many people looking for work these days, I can not support a business that employs bratty people with zero social skills.

Great bar before a ball-game. Great place to go before a Dodger Game! Stadium entrance right down the street. It got crowded quick though, get there early for a bar stool. Service was awesome. Just dont try to move a bar stool from one end to the other.... they dont like that.

We went before a white sox vs. Dodgers game and the place was full with both fans.

Good hang.

big variety of a crowd. No clue what everyone else is talking about, but id say go for your own opinion, i went after reading this, and i loveit been there 3 times in 2 weeks. Holy sh** there are so many different people, i meet someone new everytime igo. drinks are huge. not cheap not expensive, nice cute bartender, drinks around the 10-13 dollar range, but there big! it does get crowded but it just enforces you to meet someone new, good variety of music too, ive only gone on fridays and sat and hell yes, going again and again. just go check it for your own opinion. c'mon!

A-hole bartenders, A-hole hipster crowd, A-holes everywhere.. This place is at the top of my sh*t list. If you want to wait 15 minutes to order one $8 stella, and then have some USC jock try to f*ck you then look no further. That's all I need to say.

Unmarked. This dark atmospheric joint has long since shed its cop bar, Rampart Scandal trappings and become a well-known Eastside hipster hang. Come for Happy Hour and enjoy the staple buck and a half PBRs or step up to a flawlessly mixed appletini or a small-barrel bourbon ? the tenders are quite talented when it comes to mixing the perfect libation. If Terel (the manager) is behind the bar, ask politely for a ?perfect? Manhattan with Sazerac Rye ? you won?t regret it.

Weekends see a different crowd, with shiny-shirted Westsiders slumming in the still somewhat seedy neighborhood. They?re here for the beats, spun by an increasingly high-end lineup of DJs. Lines form by tenish, so make nice with one of the enormous bouncers or stumble one block west to The Little Joy Cocktail lounge, a sleazy-fun locale with battered pool tables, booths patched with duct tape and cheap drinks served in plastic cups. Think of it as a cross between a meth lab and your white trash buddy?s basement.

Great place on weeknights--. The short stop is a great place to chill on week nights. Come Friday, it gets a little crazy. If you are not a fan of lines or crowds, stick to week nights. Nice cavernous atmosphere and strong drinks. Especially love the photo booth and pool table. Nice bartenders and good dance room with decent jams for shakin' it.

I love this place!. I started hanging out at the Short Stop about a year ago and have always had a good time. It's been getting a bit crowded lately though - especially on Friday and Saturday nights. I hope this place isn't going south.

I've alwasy found the bartenders to be very friendly, fast and very easy on the eyes. It can take a while to get drinks when it's packed, but at least they let you know it's going to be a few minutes.

The Jukebox is great.
