Tantra, Los Angeles. I will definately visit again. The food and ambiance are excellent. I will ask to sit in another section, one where the waiter is not Raj. He was the worst. One would think he was working on commission instead of tips. He was very pushy, trying to get us to order more food than we wanted or could possibly eat at one sitting. When we said no, for the fourth or fifth time and he finally got it through his head, he then got very rude and his service seemed to get worse. All in all he was VERY unprofessional.

Best Indian in the U.S. and beyond. New owner, new chefs!. This is the type of place where you can come in with not much apetite and leave feeling like your going to burst! The food is nothing short of amazing!!!!

i WILL make a reccomendation to the simosas, the veggitarian sampler platter and the specialty coctails. All are to die for. They are famous for thier delicious currys (chicken tikkamisala..) and beautiful displays.. You dont even want to eat it, it is so pretty! THE ambiance is amazing. dim lit. very sexy. the new owner is very cool and hired some amazing servers. they make you feel at home and the prices are very affordable for the sizes of dish and flavor of the food.

Fun place & Service was impeccable. The decor and atmosphere really nice, Bollywood like. The service was amazing. Our waiter, Raj I think his name was, very attentive and detailed and made sure we had a good time. Liked the big appetizer platter, and dessert was good too. The food used to be a lot better, a wow when Tantra first opened - long time ago, but now it is okay. Prices are decent. Like I said the ambiance is awesome, they need to work on their food because that's ultimately what brings people back.

Re-vamped, Re-named. Well,

I went back to Tantra, renamed Trantraz, after a longgg time and I was happily surprised. The original owner has come back and completely taken the restaurant back to what it used to be!

The food is good, as usual, and the drinks YUM!

I love the fact that you can stand on the patio and smoke while you drink, and although it may get a bit crowded, you are never bored! The music (along with the number of cocktails I had :) ) left me feeling extremely upbeat and happy.

I think I am gonna be having my birthday bash there come November!

ps. Good LA people watching...my fav!

Friday Nights. I love this place on a friday night! They play a mix of hip hop and pop! The crowd is mixed, the place gets crowded since its small but its worth it!

Quality, Service, and Ambiance, all Left With the Old Owner. I was reluctant to return to Tantra after the restaurant sold last year, but I finally went in a few weeks ago and was completely disappointed! The restaurant is not at all the same place that it used to be. The food is nearly inedible ? I ordered one of my favorites, the catfish, and what I got didn?t look anything like what I expected and it tasted even worse. Worst of all, the catfish was chewy and flavorless. Don?t even get me started on the condition of the restaurant?the dining room was hot, the menus were covered with food stains, and most of the wine selections offered on the menu were unavailable. It was a horrible experience but at least now I know never to go back. How sad, the one Indian restaurant that could be counted on for great, consistent food, cleanliness, and ambiance, is now the worst place ever!!!

Bad example of Indian cuisine...over priced .. terrible service. About three weeks ago my fiance and i decided to try a new indian restaurant with some friends of ours. given the time 11:30 in the evening, we figured it couldnt be that bad i mean there were only one other party of four sitting behind us in the whole restaurant. So, the rude waitress comes up to take our orders and started getting fustrated whenwe started asking questions about the food. we should of ran out at that point but figured we would skip the fact that she had absolutely no knowledge of what was being served at the establishment she called work.. (wtf) our food arrives after thirty min. and all i could say is... i have been to other awesome indian restaurants and this one.. i just will never go back. not to mention my two friends that joined us instantly got bad stomache aches witin twenty min of eating their food. So if you want an expensive bill for bad service, below rated indian food and possible food sickness.. tantra is the spot. Oh i must admit the ambiance is awesome. i just think they need to work more on their food and their service becuase thats ultimately what brings people back.

AVOID AVOID AVOID!. I made a reservation two weeks in advance for my birthday for a party of 10 and they said it was no problem. The day of, at 4:00 pm they cancelled on me, saying that there was a death in the family and the restaurant was closing for the night. I had a friend call later in to see if they were open for dinner and...sure enough, they said come on in! What liars! They lied about a DEATH and cancelled my reservation on my birthday! If they couldn't accommodate us you'd think they would have the decency to give advance notice rather than ruining my whole evening--let alone faking a death. WILL NEVER GO BACK.

Worst Service EVER!. I went there on a Friday night and there was 10 of us. It took the server FOREVER to attend to us and when she did she was not polite. I had to go get her every time I needed something. It was my first time there and the first time eating Indian food. The food was OK, although I did not care for the portion. The presentation of the food was nice, but they didn't give you enough. The ambiance was great and the drinks were reasonably priced. I would try it again if their service were to improve.
