I love a good piece of steak, and Morton's does it right. I love their onion bread and their bone in rib-eye.

So famous, I thought it would be better.. This place has your classic steakhouse feel but I thought my steak was just average. The mojito that I got was WAY too sweet and the food was mostly just eh. Gotta say though, the fries are AMAZING. Not kidding, the best fries I've ever eaten.

USDA prime beef, elegant tableside service and mammoth martinis.. In Short
With its dark wood details, celebrity photos and tuxedo-clad waiters, this upscale steakhouse chain has the air of a posh men's club. Service is professional and discreet, with bartenders making a mean martini. Dinners begin with a waiter-driven cart laden with fresh vegetables, live lobster and cuts of steak; customers choose from porterhouse, rib-eye, bone-in prime rib and more. Side dishes are traditional and enormous, from baked potatoes and creamed spinach to steamed broccoli with hollandaise.

Expensive Beef. I went there for lunch and we did not end up eating any beef because the prices were over $40. We ordered a $24 ahi tuna and $16 crab cake appetizer, and I forgot how much the smoked salmon sandwich was. The food was good. The place was packed. Very popular.

Just an OK steakhouse.... My boyfriend and I dined at Morton's last Friday (3-16-2007). We had 8 p.m. reservations. We did not have to wait for our table for more than five minutes, but then we sat at our table for almost 10 minutes before we were served bread and water. I believe it was another 10 minutes before our waiter came by to take our drink order and present us with the menu. The waiter was very cordial and attentive. We ordered a shrimp appetizer, which was perfectly cooked and delicious. We also both ordered ribeyes (mine with the cajun seasoning) cooked medium rare. The steaks were not very good for the price. Also, side orders were not included with the dish and had to be ordered separately. Which would be ok, but the quality of the food just was not what I would expect for the price. My steak was so charred on the outside, I could not enjoy the flavor of the steak. My boyfriend's steak turned out the same. All in all, I would not recommend this restaurant for either service or the food.

Too pricey for not too juicy steal. I went there once, and never wanna go back. The steak wasn't as great as I thought people rave about, and I think it's too pricey for the food like that.

Great steak. I'm demanding about the meat I consume, but the cut I had at this restaurant (double porterhouse) did not disappoint. Thick, juicy, tender, cooked to perfection. Great Lyonnaise potatoes with garlic and butter.

Service was lacking, but I think it was more of a problem with the server I had been assigned in particular. Although polite, she was slow and not very attentive, unlike the other servers in the room, who were not only polite, but also enthusiastic and full of energy.

It was also nice to see an L.A. restaurant employing maitre d's in tuxedos with a warm, inviting attitude. It adds a touch a class that is so rarely seen in restaurants around this city. Add to that the fact that the place looks good, they serve outstanding fare, they play Sinatra in the background... all ingredients for what could have been a great ambience restaurant, gone to waste and completely ruined by a noisy (I had to repeat, well, more like yell every order twice because the server couldn't hear me) crowd that shows up to enjoy $40-50 steaks wearing jeans, t-shirts, and, in one case, shorts, tennis shoes, and a sweatshirt. What a shame.

Overall, however, it was a pleasant experience.

Best Steakhouse in downtown, by far.... Simply Excellent. Food, Service, atmosphere. Phenomenal. I have been going here for a few years now, and have never been disappointed. As a lawyer working in downtown LA I have noticed that there a very few laidback, high end restaurants where I can entertain my clients and still feel we can have a real good time. This is the place.

Good steak, great service. My girlfriend and I went to Morton's for dinner on a Sunday when they opened for dinner (6 pm, I think). It was nice, b/c no one was there at first (I'd recommend it). Anyway, the server was extremely attentive and informative, we didn't have to wait for anything. The tuna tartare was pretty good, but next time I'll try a different appetizer. If you like tomatoes, the sliced beefsteak tomato salad was tasty (we got it w/ the purple onion and vinaigrette, no blue cheese). For dinner, my girlfriend got the single cut filet mignon - delicious, and I had the single cut porterhouse - very good (probably not my favorite cut of meat - but now I know - and it was still good). We both liked the Lyonaisse potatoes. For dessert, we shared the Legendary Hot Chocolate Cake - VERY delicious. I'm not a big dessert person (adds to the bill and the waistline) but I like chocolate, and the cake was awesome. The meal for the two of us with all I listed, two cocktails, and two glasses of wine was about $250, so it ain't cheap. It was disappointing to see other people dining in jeans, and there were some people in t-shirts. I guess that's L.A. Too bad they don't enforce a dress code. Anyway, expensive yes, but a good experience.

Excellent Food and Service. In my opinion Morton's has the best steaks in Los Angeles.

Try the Filet or NY Strip, potatoes lyonnaise, and creamed spinach. For Apps, try the giant crab cocktail.

The staff is great. They make continual visits to your table; giving you recommendations on the menu and wine list.

The one draw back I have is ambiance. While all Morton's are bustling with activity and tend to be loud, my problem was specific to the downtown Figueroa location.

The other dining guests were not dressed as nicely as you would expect if you went to another Morton's or any nice restaurant for that matter.

When I go out and spend a lot of money at a nice restaurant, somehow it's not the same when the people seated near you are wearing Dodgers hats, white t-shirts and throw-back NBA jerseys. That atmosphere takes away from the nice dining experience.
