Editorial Review for Long Beach Outdoor Antique & Collectible Market – by Amanda Knoles
The Scene
On the third Sunday of each month 800 dealers display their wares with a focus on furniture, accessories and an eclectic array of decorative items. Interior designers and even some celebrities show up to browse 20 acres of antiques and collectibles. In 2001, "Good Housekeeping" magazine rated this one of the Top 10 flea markets in America. Dealers are friendly, the aisles aren't as crowded as the Rose Bowl, and collectors frequently have information on other upcoming shows.
The Goods
Shabby-chic is the keyword here. Shoppers find everything from collectible Pez dispensers and Hot Wheels to antique rolltop desks, overstuffed chairs and handmade quilts. Glassware, antique lamps, rugs, dolls, jewelry, and countless kitschy items from the '50s and '60s are some of the treasures that await.
