The Scene – There's no rude attitude or even a cover charge at this burgeoning music club from the owners of Short Stop. There's also not much scenery at the Scene: the plywood-covered walls and dusty decor are very dive bar, but there's a pool table, an Asteroids video game, two dartboards and a jukebox jammed with everything from the Rolling Stones to Eazy-E to keep you busy until the band takes the stage. The crowd of hip intellectuals, barflys, retro rockers, urban cowboys and way-cool staff create a laid-back, festive vibe. The bands alternate between indie pop, retro rock and…

West Indian Girl at the Scene

by davegrohl at Citysearch

I had so much fun in this club at the West Indian Girl Show. Great atmosphere and unbelievably cheap beer. So much fun and the bands were great. Good show , good company, great fun! Some guy told me that Sundays were even better!

  • Pros: Cheap and good drinks
  • Cons: Took a long time to get a drink

Mellow Atmosphere; Bad for Designated Drivers

by beckynmoses at Citysearch

Went to The Scene this past Friday night. I went specifically to see Gina Villanovos who was amazing!! I enjoyed the mellow atmosphere of The Scene. There was a very fun, very "Un LA" crowd, which was a great change. Felt like a bar that I could find in any college town in America. Very comfortable!

My only complaint is that as a Designated Driver, I had NO beverage options. They don't serve any non alcoholic beers at all, and the Diet Coke was flat, old, and watery. My only options were to drink beer or go thirsty (as a good DD I choose to be thirsty).

  • Pros: Very "Un LA"!!
  • Cons: Nothing for Designated Drivers to drink.

The only place to go east of hollywood

by desireedesigner at Citysearch

Glendale ... hip? Who would of thought that a rocking club full of great talent, good brews, and truly nice staff would reside in Glendale? But its true! Don't let the classic single door fool you, inside is a real bar rarely found by even locals. Inside is a pool table, dart board, a variety of brews all on tap (from Guiness and Bass to Miller and Bud) and talented bands that surpass even the shows put on by the Echo and Roxy. Come enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and super-rocking music.

  • Pros: pool table, vaiety of beer on tap, good music
