worst soso food, impressive menu, good food, never bad tasting dish, wonderful relaxed restaurant, quite extensive menue, great happy hour
Great Happy Hour! Huge and diverse menu. Ignore those old reviews. I have been to Marmalade several times over the last year and it is a wonderful, relaxed restaurant. The menu is huge and has something for everyone. The soups are made from scratch and incredibly yummy! Try the Wild Mushroom soup! The Happy Hour is daily from 4-6pm(call to check exact times). Half priced apps and wine specials. Prefect way to start the evening!
WORST FOOD... EVER. I have never had such a bad tasting dish in my life until now. I ordered pasta, you would think that this is a foolproof dish and no one could go wrong in preparing it YOURE WRONG the pasta tasted like if you soaked heavy construction paper in milk and then mildly warmed it. This was the worst thing Ive tasted in my life. We were a party of 5 and no one liked what they ordered. I agree with the last reviewer your are better of at Dennys
Salads and steaks reign supreme at the Grove's thriving Cal-centric cafe..
In Short
Any evening, the L-shaped patio is packed with couples and cosmopolitan-sipping gals enjoying a night on the town. Inside, large booths and tables are filled with families refueling after a shopping spree. The extensive menu spotlights American standards with a California slant. Portions are huge, so diners often split appetizers, salads and entrees. Starters include bruschetta, coconut shrimp with orange-marmalade sauce and seafood salad. Filet mignon, red snapper and pizza round out the offerings.
Am I an Animal.....
...or a human?
If you feel like the latter, go there: the portions are huge, and the ambiance in the restaurant is accordingly: let's not focus on quality and taste, rather amount, and to serve as many people as possible.
The menu seems impressive at first, but indeed is trying to incorporate as many different tastes as possible - yet fails to create one unique dish.
Don't waste any money, time, or wxpectations on this place - you will be disappointed.
Just AWFUL. The worst food ever put in front of me in a restaurant. Dried out vegetables, burnt potatoes, no care at all given to the food put on the plate. Awful. The plate was returned and taken off my bill. You're better off at Denny's.
Avoid At All Costs!!. Glad to see we're not the only ones who encountered horrible service at this place, which will certainly never see my table of four again. Food is ok - sub-Cheesecake Factory, a little better than a diner. Location alone will probably insure it stays busy, but hopefully word will get out that their SERVICE IS AWFUL! We waited for 45 minutes, and were assured by the host that breakfast went until 3:30pm on Sun. Waitress says Nope 3pm - won't budge, says "So, do you want to leave or what?" Much to my chagrin, we stayed for more bad service and so-so food. It's a great location, but I'll *NEVER* be back.
service was lacking. The location at The Grove shopping area is a bonus, but that's about where the good ends. Our server was disinterested in being there, and didn't seem to pay much attention to us at all. When we sat, we were never brought bread or water, meanwhile every other table received theirs. Later, after requesting water, it was still not brought. The waitress was impossible to find for coffee refills, and we were not the only table to experience problems.
A wide selection of food. The menue is quite extensive and the portions are large. The food is good, but not great. The service is nothing to write home about. We asked for balsamic vinegar only to be told that they could not find it. So, we had to wait for them to go get some from storage. It's a fun place to go, but don't go on a special occasion.
Outdoor patio. We had a relaxing dinner outdoors on the patio. The food was good but not great. The waiters all look like they are just waiting to be discovered, but had I listened to his suggestion to put the sauce on the side I might have enjoyed my dinner more. The fish was fresh, but there was so much sauce it was a bit overwhelming. The waiter also recommended the mushroom soup which was tasty, the cerviche above average. The menu has over 200 items including salads, meat, fish and pasta so there is something for everyone
