The Scene
Pick up a visitor's badge, take the creaky elevator to the second floor and try not to think about what's happening behind the doors lining the hushed hallways. It started with a few embossed mugs; now this store is filled from floor to ceiling with T-shirts, towels and other items that are snapped up by "Quincy" nostalgics, souvenir-seeking tourists and visiting squads of firefighters.
The Goods
The best-sellers are T-shirts emblazoned with the word "Coroner" and beach towels bearing body outlines. There are also scrub tops, boxer shorts, calendars, toe-tag key chains and coin banks shaped like hearses, and the garment bag labeled "Body Bag" is always good for a few laughs. All store proceeds go to the office's Youthful Drunk Driving Visitation program, which brings young offenders to the morgue for a firsthand look at what might have happened to them.
